Express Cruiser evolution at its best.... The Grand Banks 39
The 39SX marks the evolution of an icon, successor to the pace setting 38 Eastbay that Grand Banks launched thirty years ago. With her graceful, sweeping lines, the restyled and reconfigured 39 SX brings new "curve appeal" to the Eastbay series. With only 19 built 39#08 has remained a Southern California boat since new with only two owners. New aftercoolers (2024) and recent mechanical service to cooling systems she is ready for her next chapter. Desirable Common Rail Cummins QSC8.3 490 hp provides reliable smooth clean power.
The 39 Eastbay marks the evolution of an icon, the successor to the pace-setting 38EX that launched the series for Grand Banks - and pioneered the contemporary Downeast cruiser for boaters everywhere. With graceful, sweeping lines, the 39 Eastbay complements her stylish "curve appeal" with a powerful set of performance features, matching classic beauty with pure exhilaration at every turn. Atop a proven deep-V hull designed by Ray Hunt Associates, she can easily top 30 knots while keeping dry and steady through the waves. Inside, you'll enjoy outstanding visibility from the helm and throughout the salon, which opens to a spacious cockpit featuring a large teak deck, large lazarette, and classic GB amenities like pop-up fender cleats. The Eastbay 39 is a delight to be on board either underway or at mooring/anchor. Quiet and stable at a full 80% load cruise of 25 knots, with an abundance of natural light and ventilation with six opening ports and three large hatches all with screens and with the helm deck/salon being completely surrounded with large windows, two of them large sliders and centerline opening windshield. Interior joiner work is finished with rubbed effect satin varnish including the teak and holly soles. Natural ventilation is sufficient with two overhead hatches on the helm deck and two side opening windows and a center forward electrically operated windshield. Artificial lighting is equally well thought out with numerous overhead recessed lights as well as swivel style reading lamps at all berths and settees. Accommodations are for six, with a single stateroom layout with Island Queen berth and 7' settee that can be made down into a double berth. The helm deck settee converts to accommodate two more guests. Starting forward is the Private Stateroom with island queen berth, three cargo drawers below. Outboard the yacht is richly finished with teak planking lining the hull and additional storage cabinets and lockers Port and Starboard. Next aft is the lower Salon & Galley with oversized U-shaped settee to port with storage under and in lockers outboard and above. Dining is from a varnished teak pedestal table that drops to form a filler when its use as a berth is desired. Opposite to starboard is the Galley featuring granite countertops. Refrigerator is located below the counter, front load dual voltage fridge/freezer. Cooking is managed on a 2 burner Princess cooktop and the Sharp convection microwave. Good storage in the associated lockers and drawers. The enclosed Head is aft to starboard with Sealand Vacuflush fresh water toilet. A separate stall shower area with curved Plexiglas sliding door and vanity with Corian countertop and under-mounted sink. Up three steps (with storage under) to the Helm Deck/Salon. Bleu features a Stidd captain's chair and an L-settee aft and to port with storage under and the optional entertainment system to port. Gracious access to the cockpit with molded in forward facing bench seat which is equipped with pneumatic struts for easy lifting to access storage under; and ice maker to port forward adjacent to an aft facing bench. Wide side decks with tall safety rails lead forward. Moving about the yacht is easy underway or at anchor.
The 39SX has the accommodations to please any small family or couple. The forward master cabin offers an island berth, lavish teak and custom fabrics. With an angled galley to maximize stowage and ease-of-use, and a dinette that easily converts to a double berth, the design below deck is open, elegant, and ultimately practical. The head compartment is large enough for a separate cylindrical Plexiglass shower stall. The engine room accessed through the deckhouse sole, is Grand Banks as its typical finest. Groco safety seacocks on engine raw-water intlets, dripless shaft logs. Racor water-separating filters on the engines and genset. Plus a long list of standard equipment and amenities.
