PRICE DECREASE
PROBABLY THE BEST VALUE OF ANY 35' SAILBOAT IN THE NW !
The Freedom 35 was designed by David Pedrick, longtime Naval Architect and Yacht Designer for Sparkman and Stephens. Mr. Pedrick was part of the design team that helped Dennis Conner win back the Americas Cup from Australia.
The Freedom 35 is a progressive development of the famous Freedom 36 with a taller jib hoist and a bit narrower beam, resulting in a more easily driven hull and probably a bit faster than a Freedom 36.
The freestanding carbon fiber mast is self- supporting as the top bends off in a puff (gust) so the crew does not have to ease the traveler or mainsheet as much as with a traditional rig. The large main generates a lot of power and the taller jib increases pointing ability. "Orion" has the optional overlapping jib so headsail area is increased over the self-tacking jib. With this headsail plan, one could easily use a light #1 genoa or even a Code 0 for those light air days.
The keel and rudder designs are representative of Dave Pedrick's race boat experience, she's got a "fast keel and rudder". Sails are by Doyle. Laminated, again "go fast". She's a sleeper at the dock and a wolf in Yacht Club racing,
especially if you want to go single-handed.
The Freedom 35 is a delight to sail, the main is essentially self- tacking and the jib is easily handed. She is a great choice for a single-hander, double handed sailing or a small family. Her performance rivals the much more voluminous designs of today and way easier to sail.
Below, the interior is varnished Mahogany resulting in a rich, warm environment. Saloon table seats 4. Forward
Cabin V berth sleeps 2 and the aft cabin sleeps 2 in a double bed. Large head with separate shower to Stbd with galley to port.
The Yanmar 27 HP diesel easily drives the boat while sipping fuel. Engine access is generous for maintenance and service. Overall, the Freedom 35 delivers a lot of value for the dollar and big return in the enjoyment of sailing.
