This ship was built in California and commissioned on D-Day, June 6, 1944 as a US Navy freighter. During the World War II she served as an ammunition supply vessel. Afterwards she was posted to Alaska as a Coast Guard buoy tender for 14 years, and later did search and rescue, law enforcement and environmental protection work out of New Orleans until 1998. Most recently this historic vessel has been an active Seamen's Training Vessel in her native California. Now seriously for sale, she is ideally suited for conversion to a research ship or a multitude of other uses.
