From the classic Chesapeake bow, the Maryland crab house, to the electric fold down transom she will turn heads at the dock, on anchor, or underway.
Her Designer Tom Weaver wanted a boat that could reach major towns on the other side of the bay within an hour (15 to 30 miles) comfortably, and run in the shallows for exploration in rivers and streams. ââ?¬Å?She only draws 19 inches.
The classic Chesapeake workboat is a single engine in a big engine box. The Eastport 32 has a pair of Yanmar 250HP (only 34 hours) power plants with four blade Acme nibral props that are set in conical prop tunnels to reduce draft and eliminate cavitation in highspeed turns. This also allowed placement of the engines farther outboard than typical to allow more walking room centerline and more seating room for guests.
One of the more recognizable features of a Chesapeake Bay workboat is the flat cabin top that extends over the entire seating area. Unlike those the cabin top on the Eastport is made of vacuum-bagged Divinyncell and is supported on an aluminum housing that includes the windshield mullions. Open the forward windows and roll up the isinglass and the breeze blows through, but if the weather turns bad close everything up and stay warm and dry.
Gina has been housed indoors by her current owner and her motors flushed with fresh water after every use. He has also done many upgrades while taking care of her.
