Built on a heavy displacement hull, the DeFever 49 is celebrated for its stability and smooth ride, even in challenging sea conditions. The hull is constructed of fiberglass, ensuring durability and ease of maintenance. Twin Ford Lehman 120hp diesel engines power the vessel, delivering reliable performance for long-range cruising at approximately 7 - 8 knots. The current owners purchased the boat in 2002 and have cruised to Alaska six times. The boat has always performed reliably and confidently, even in challenging passages.
Upgrades and maintenance include:
Salon windows replaced 2001.
Custom Radar mast and deck access: 2018.
Navigation updated: Garmin GPSmap 5212 and autopilot, 2023. All hydraulic hoses and fittings replaced.
Portuguese flybridge, bow and boat deck fiberglassed with non-skid paint.
Maintenance includes: fluid changes every 200 hours on the mains, Borg Werner transmissions rebuilt, Shafts and shaft logs replaced.
