Come see us at the Antique and Classic Boat Festival at the St. Michaels Maritime Museum this weekend!!! Take a step back in time and check out this classic Paul Jones built Chesapeake 38 Deadrise with new John Deere diesel power. What a head turner! Several "best in show" awards since her refit when a layer of fiberglass was added from the rub rail down. All the engine and glass work was done by Sandy Thompson at the Thompson Boatyard in Crab Alley. The present owners have enjoyed 12 years of cruising, fishing and crabbing throughout the Chesapeake Bay. She can run planer boards, trotlines, or cocktail cruise with equal enthusiasm! Mahogany cockpit rails with backlit lights, a custom engine box, and a delightful transom bench seat highlight the cockpit area. Cockpit controls with trolling valve and handy bench with gas stove to port are forward of the engine box. Stepping into the pilothouse the dinette is on the port side with a freshwater sink to starboard just aft of the helm station. The helm is well equipped with Garmin radar, chart plotter and fish finder, a new ProMariner battery charger, and electric windlass. Forward you'll find a comfortable v-berth and a head with a door to starboard. She is truly a gem and must be seen to be appreciated. She even has a full canvas cover for storage and privacy! She is a cross planked deadrise built with white cedar on yellow pine side frames.  Stringers are mahogany, floors are mahogany, and the transom is varnished mahogany.  Built as a carvel hull with a hard chine, with the side planks running fore and aft and the bottom planking running transversely.  During the refit the hull was sheathed with a matrix of directional fiberglass cloth and resin from the shear to the garboard and keel. This system is known as the "Vaitses" system, especially designed for overlay of existing vessels and is well known to the Coast Guard.  Any planks requiring attention were replaced during the refit, and the engine stringers were redesigned and modified for the torque of the diesel.  Plenty of additional details available for serious buyers.
