TRI-STAR 39 Ketch Trimaran - Blue Suede Shoes
Due to a family emergency, the owners have dropped the price and need to sell ASAP.
Ed Horstman began designing trimarans in 1960 with the launch of the TRI- STAR 40. This groundbreaking design became the first trimaran to compete in the Multihull Transpac Race to Hawaii in 1966, finishing an impressive second. In 1979, a TRI-STAR 39-very similar to Blue Suede Shoes-became the first trimaran to sail from east to west around Cape Horn, enduring winds up to 100 mph.
Blue Suede Shoes is a well-proven vessel with a rich history-having completed two circumnavigations under her first owners. Professionally built in California using the Double Diagonal Plywood (DDP) method with epoxy, this construction technique has stood the test of time. Many TRI-STAR trimarans built in the late '60s and '70s using the same method are still actively sailing today.
She has been meticulously maintained and continues to impress with excellent sailing performance, responsive handling, and a level of onboard comfort that makes extended cruising a joy.
Trimarans are known for their fast, stable, and non-heeling sailing experience. Blue Suede Shoes offers a thrilling yet safe ride. Her minimal heel means comfort underway and at anchor-no rolling out of bed or rocking at night.
With spacious decks and generous accommodations, Blue Suede Shoes is ideal for weekend cruising or offshore passagemaking. Whether you're looking for adventure or liveaboard potential, this trimaran delivers.
If you're seeking a capable, well-built multihull with a remarkable pedigree and proven bluewater performance, Blue Suede Shoes is ready to take you there. Join the many satisfied TRI-STAR owners sailing around the world-this is your opportunity to own a true classic.
