Beautiful Custom Schooner with cold molded hull, twin engines, built with redundancy to go anywhere
Crafted for a discerning sailor who values tradition, craftsmanship, and seaworthy design, the Covey Island 38 Custom Schooner represents a rare opportunity to own a beautifully built classic cruising yacht. Construction was completed in 2000 and has been maintained to exceptional standards by only two owners.
At 38 feet LOD with a beam of 12 feet 3 inches and a draft of 5 feet 6 inches, the design strikes an ideal balance between stability, comfort, and performance under sail. Her cold-molded composite construction and modern under-body deliver the strength and tracking ability serious sailors appreciate, while her graceful schooner rig gives her unmistakable character on the water. You will also enjoy the single handed functionality of the rigging setup. The underbody features a moderate fin keel with a trim rudder on the trailing edge, and a skeg-hung main rudder.
Power when you need it comes from twin Vetus diesel engines producing a combined 84 horsepower, and have only about 350 hours of use. Whether maneuvering in tight harbors or cruising quietly along the coast, this auxiliary power offers performance and peace of mind.
Below deck, the layout is designed for comfortable cruising, featuring two double berths and ample space for extended time aboard. Her thoughtful interior complements the vessel's traditional aesthetic, creating an inviting environment after a day under sail. The generous waterline length of nearly 32 feet contributes to steady passage-making and confident offshore capability.
For sailors who appreciate traditional lines, quality craftsmanship, and a well maintained vessel, this schooner stands as an exceptional and increasingly rare offering.

Beautiful Custom Schooner with cold molded hull, twin engines, built with redundancy to go anywhere
Condition detail
Built in 2000 and maintained by both owners, the boat presents itself in good condition. The vessel spent its early years in a heated boathouse during the long Nova Scotia winters. It didn't leave the boathouse for its last four years at that location.
The hull was repainted in 2025 with an epoxy, and the interior is clean, showing great care and attention. The engine compartments are extremely clean.
