One of Robert Perry's most thoughtful cruising designs. She is one of the few sailing yachts of her size that offers boat a living salon and a separate dining area. No need to live at your dining room table. This is fantastic for living aboard or at anchor when cruising.
The last two owners combined have spent a tremendous amount of Well thought out effort and money both refurbishing and improving this fine vessel. If you are ready to set out to see the world, Rubicon is for you.
Accommodations
Forward of the large and comfortable cockpit, you step down the companionway into large master stateroom, head with shower and a navigation area. Moving forward is a wonderful galley with Corian counters, a Force 10 stove and Adler Barbour 12v refrigeration to starboard. Across from the galley to port is a large and comfortable convertible dinette. One of the wonderful features of this design is that instead of having to live at your dining room table, like most sailboats this size; you move forward to a dedicated salon/living area. Further forward are lockers to port and a second head to starboard. Forward is a comfortable V-Berth second cabin
.
The cockpit and deck area are roomy and easy to move about on.

Cons
Older Design: Being a 1979 model, some design aspects may feel dated compared to modern yachts, including less efficient hull shapes and older onboard systems.
Maintenance Requirements: Older vessels often require ongoing maintenance and potential upgrades to electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Heavier Displacement: The sturdy build results in a heavier displacement, which may lead to slower speeds, especially in light wind conditions.
Limited Modern Amenities: May lack some contemporary conveniences and technologies found on newer cruising yachts.
Ketch Rig Complexity: While offering versatility, the ketch rig involves more sails and rigging to manage, which can require more skill and effort during sailing.
Aft Cockpit Exposure: While generally protected, the aft cockpit can sometimes be more exposed to following seas compared to center cockpit designs.
