1987 Catalina 34 diesel auxiliary sloop for sale.
Known for voluminous cabins, quality design/engineering , and excellent sailing characteristics, this C34 won't disappoint.
This Mark I model has the keel stepped mast and a spacious, comfortable cockpit with an Edson wheel helm. At nearly 30 feet LWL and 5000 lbs. ballast, she is a solid stable sailor big enough to take offshore and small enough to be easily single or double handed. An excellent choice for a family of four or a mature cruising couple dreaming of exploring the New England coast from busy Long Island Sound harbors to the remote wilds of Maine.
The near queen size aft berth, with privacy door, creates a very acceptable private aft stateroom. Main salon sleeps three with a dinette table double berth. The forepeak double berth makes this a three cabin boat. The spacious head is aft to port of the companionway and includes a hot and cold water shower. Nicely crafted teak built in cabinetry and recent upholstery throughout makes for a cheerful below decks experience.
The Catalina 34 is a successful, all-around design from a hugely successful company. Because Catalina sells so many boats and runs an efficient manufacturing facility, its boats typically sell for less than other brands of comparable size. The relatively large number of used Catalinas on the market mean that a buyer can be quite selective.
In general, satisfaction with the Catalina 34 rates very high. We suspect this is due in large part to the great support that owners get through the Catalina 34 International Association, Catalina, and Catalina Direct, an independent provider of upgrades and parts for older boat

The interior design is European style with the head aft by the companionway. Catalina is very full forward, with a big V-berth cabin and a large dinette and settee forward of the L-shaped galley and nav station.
The starboard-side aft cabin-entered through the galley presents a spacious aft guest cabin or storage space. It has a sizable athwartship berth, and there is a seating area between the berth and the galley.
According to many owners, the interior is the most praised aspect of the C34, with comments like "most room for the money".
