Pros
Performance-Oriented Design: The First 42 features a sleek hull and a well-balanced sail plan, providing good speed and handling both upwind and downwind.
Spacious Interior: For a 42-foot boat, it offers a comfortable and roomy interior layout, suitable for extended cruising with family or friends.
Solid Construction: Built by Beneteau, it benefits from quality fiberglass construction typical of the mid-1980s, offering durability and longevity.
Versatile Use: Designed as a cruiser-racer, it can be competitive in club racing while still providing cruising comforts.
Good Storage: Ample storage space below deck makes it practical for longer voyages.
Cons
Older Systems: Being a 1985 model, some onboard systems such as electrical, plumbing, and engine components may require upgrades or maintenance.
Outdated Interior Styling: The interior decor and fittings reflect the design trends of the 1980s, which may feel dated to some buyers.
Limited Headroom: While spacious, the cabin headroom may be less generous compared to more modern 42-footers.
