Accommodations

The first impression of the American Tug is the quality of the interior. As you step into the salon from the aft cockpit, you are immediately surrounded by beautiful joinery work. The vinyl plank flooring and Ultraleather are warm and inviting. These boats feel right and are built tough for people who cruise their boats; these are not dock queens.

The salon features large windows that flood the interior with light. You can see forward past the galley to the raised pilothouse; it is this open feel that makes the interior great for entertaining. An L-shape settee is on the starboard, with a new tri-fold table (2025 version made by American Tug) that can be expanded to seat six. On the port side is a space to accommodate a chair and ottoman with room to spare.

The galley is forward and on the port side. The entertainment center is located on the starboard side forward bulkhead.

Up a few steps to the raised pilothouse. American Tug makes full use of the large "stack", the defining feature of a tug boat, and provides ample headroom above these stairs. The pilothouse is large, open, and provides full 360-degree sightlines. There are sliding doors on both the port & starboard sides. The port side of the pilothouse has additional seating for three. On the starboard is a desk, perfect for trip planning or remote work. A Bentley helm chair is on the centerline.

Forward is the guest stateroom with a queen pullman berth. The guest stateroom has a private head with a full-size shower.  Ample storage and good ventilation are provided.  A full-size hanging locker provides excellent storage for long cruises.

The primary stateroom is down a few steps and features a walk-around queen berth, a very large private head & shower, and nine full suspension drawers plus a cedar-lined hanging locker.

4 independent reverse-cycle heating and air conditioning systems are installed throughout the vessel.  There are three additional 110-volt heaters, all independently controlled for keeping her warm on the dock or in the off-season.

The joinery is a warm-toned wood.

Engine & Systems

Equipped with the Cummins QSC-8.3L 540 hp engine. The large single Cummins engine delivers excellent efficiency at hull speed and the ability to run fast in "semi-displacement" at a 12-knot cruise. This is the best of both worlds!

Due to the efficiency of the "common rail" electronic fuel injection, the engine is equally happy sipping just 3 gallons an hour at 7.75-knots or crossing the Straits when it is rough out, going just a bit faster and keeping everyone comfortable. Control your own destiny and go thru all three narrows up by Big Bay in a single day, then cruise slow and economically where timing and currents are less of an issue. The real power of a semi-displacement boat is opening up alternatives, expect to spend 75-90% of your time at a economical displacement speed, run fast thru the rapids and Straits so you control your schedule.
