"Vi" is a 1980 44' Alden Cutter, hull number 16 of 40.
The Alden 44 Cutter started production in 1976 and built 40 boats over the next 15 years of production (1976-1991). She has been turning heads ever since. She is a capable offshore cruiser racer and has made countless passages along with winning her fair share of silver on the racecourse in her day.
Alden Yachts and TPI collaborated on the build design and high-quality construction methods that have made the 44 an enduring boat on the used-boat market.
If you are looking for a proven "Bluewater "boat for offshore cruising, "Vi" should be on your short list of capable "offshore" boats to consider. Most recently she has proven her ability as a great offshore boat sailing across the pond, cruising out to Bermuda, running down to the Caribbean and cruising along Central America, with her current owner. Most of the time he sailed her single handed. He purchased her for her ability to "keep him safe", comfortable and happy out in the ocean.
"The Alden 44 is a dream yacht, well-proportioned overall, slender at the beam, sturdily built, big enough to sleep eight, seaworthy and especially pretty."
-Sailing Magazine
She has 2 staterooms, 1 aft that sleeps 3 and the V berth forward sleeps 2, the main cabin can sleep 3 if needed.
Beautiful interior woodwork, 2nd set stairs to access to the main cabin, aft cabin access through the aft cockpit.
She has a skeg rudder for protection with a 3 bladed bronze feathering propeller.
Centerboard for cruising in shallow waters, draft 5', offshore drop the board down to 8'9".
