" DAZE " a 3 year restoration project by Strand Built / Custom Boat and Woodwork in Connecticut.
There have been some nicely restored Cuttyhunk's but none to the this degree. Please look carefully at photos and build sheet to follow.. Cold Molded Bottom, Coosa board used in foredeck, gunwales,main bulkhead, cockpit with teak overlay, transom with Mahogany overlay, engine box.
This is a one of a kind Mackenzie being offered well under restoration cost. 1968 Includes trailer .
2024: - New teak cockpit sole over Coosa composite on new douglas fir framing - Centek Vernatone mufflers - Completion of interior carpentry and brightwork - Mooring cover - windshield to transom - New engine oil cooler - Installation of NOS transmission 2023: - Engine exhaust elbows replaced, coolant system flushed - New 4-blade Acme propeller - New v-berth cabinetry build out, forward storage, and interior mahogany sole - Cockpit ceiling repairs and paint - New cockpit cushions - Side planking reefed and glued at seams, bronze fasteners replaced as needed - Side planking butt-joints replaced with scarfs to minimize visible joints - Hull, cockpit ceiling, and interior paint 2022: - New foredeck and gunwales Coosa composite panels over mahogany laminated beams. Laminated African ribbon-stripe mahogany gunwales, covering boards, and toe rails. - New Coosa composite main bulkhead - Awlcraft paint and non-skid on exterior of foredeck and bulkhead - New mahogany helm pod with new gauges, Garmin MFD (with thru-hull transducer), Seastar hydraulic helm, hoses, and cylinder, single-lever controls adapted to Palm Beach style lever. New fuel gauges and ignition controls - New African ribbon-stripe mahogany windshield with laminated glass panels - New engine box, lower helm cover, and rear bench seat all Coosa composite construction with Awlcraft paint - Laminated teak transom over Coosa panels - New Teak swim platform and stainless steel brackets - New Zipwake interceptors 2021: - New 3/16" aluminum fuel tanks (70 gallon combined capacity) - All new white-oak framing below the waterline - Installation of cold-molded marine plywood bottom. SIde planks, edges, fasteners, and hull-penetrations built with Coosa composite or epoxy core to prevent water ingress - Keel replaced with laminated mahogany and fastened with bronze keel bolts - Bottom and keel laminated with biaxial fiberglass in epoxy resin and coated with epoxy barrier-coat inside and out. A modern dry, water impervious, bottom and bilge! - Lower stem replaced with laminated mahogany and transom framing repaired - New PSS shaft seal - All new fuel system plumbing, selector valve, and primary filter housing - Installation of Lewmar 110TT bow thruster 2010: - Repowered with Crusader Captain's Choice 5.0 MPI FWC Remaining parts from original 1968 construction: - All original bronze hardware, rubrails, and lights - Hull stringers - Side planking and framing 20 kt cruise at 3600 rpm, 30 kt max
