PIlgrim Progress 42 Construction & Design
The hull, deck, and superstructure are constructed of ¼” 5M3 H116 marine-grade aluminum, fully welded to marine-grade aluminum longitudinal and lateral stringers. Closed-cell spray foam insulation is installed above the waterline throughout the engine compartment, providing sound dampening, thermal efficiency, and added comfort aboard.

The cabin sole is marine-grade plywood finished with bamboo flooring, which remains in excellent condition and adds warmth, durability, and a modern touch to the interior. The overall construction reflects strength, longevity, and real-world cruising sensibility.
Pilgrim Progress Decks & Exterior
In 2023, The Good Ship received a complete professional repaint, including the hull and topsides, along with new lettering and striping, giving her a crisp, updated look that still honors her classic profile. A custom-built swim deck was installed, improving access and functionality aboard.

New bimini tops and frames (2024–2025) provide excellent sun protection, while a new mooring cover protects the flybridge, windshield, and hatches when not in use. Ground tackle was upgraded with 200 feet of new 5/16” anchor chain paired with a Rockna anchor, offering excellent holding and confidence in a wide range of anchoring conditions.

Navigation, anchor, and spreader lights have all been upgraded to LED, improving visibility while reducing power consumption.
Pilgrim Progress 42 Pilothouse, Flybridge & Helm S
The Good Ship features a fully equipped interior main helm with a flybridge helm directly above, each carrying a duplicate complement of modern navigational electronics. Access to the flybridge is excellent, via staircases located directly behind the helm as well as port and starboard access points.

Both helm stations are outfitted with new Garmin GPS displays, radar, AIS, autopilot, and ActiveCaptain integration, providing redundancy and excellent situational awareness. Two new marine VHF radios with new antennas further enhance communication reliability.

All windows have been professionally tinted, and new interior shades were installed throughout to manage heat, glare, and privacy.
Pilgrim Progress 42 Interior Accomodations
The interior layout is designed for comfortable long-term cruising and liveaboard use, offering accommodations for up to four people with flexibility for additional guests when needed. Storage is generous throughout, supporting extended time aboard without compromise.

Forward in the vessel is the primary stateroom, located in the bow and providing a quiet, private retreat away from the main living spaces. This stateroom offers excellent storage and features its own private ensuite head, delivering the comfort and privacy owners expect. The head benefits from recent upgrades including a new electric toilet, fresh-water flush system, and all-new sanitation hoses, ensuring reliable and odor-free operation.

The main cabin houses a well-appointed galley and a separate, independent head with shower, making the layout highly functional for guests or shared cruising. The galley is thoughtfully equipped with a propane three-burner Princess cooktop and oven, microwave oven, under-counter toaster oven, and a very generously sized refrigerator/freezer ideal for extended cruising. A large stainless steel undermount sink with a pull-out style faucet adds both functionality and ease of use.

In the salon, the sofa converts into additional sleeping accommodations, providing flexibility for visiting family or friends while maintaining an open, comfortable living space during the day.

The interior is bright and welcoming, enhanced by new LED ceiling lighting, professionally tinted windows, and all-new interior shades. The bamboo flooring throughout remains in excellent condition and ties the space together with warmth and durability. A central vacuum system adds everyday convenience for life aboard.
Pilgrim Progress 42 Mechanical, Power & Systems
Powering The Good Ship is a Caterpillar 3126 diesel rated at 450 HP, showing just under 2,000 well-maintained hours. This proven engine platform is widely respected for reliability, efficiency, and long service life. A Caterpillar technician recently inspected the engine, checked all systems, and adjusted values, ensuring everything is operating exactly as intended.

Fuel capacity is 400 gallons, offering excellent range for long legs and remote cruising. Power is delivered through a 4-blade bronze propeller, providing smooth operation, strong low-speed thrust, and efficient cruising performance.

The vessel is equipped with a Westerbeke 12 kW marine generator with approximately 1,250 hours, supplying reliable onboard power for air conditioning, galley appliances, and battery charging. New zincs have been installed on both the main engine and generator, with updates completed in both 2023 and 2024–2025.

Additional systems include a fuel polishing system, oil change system, and an isolation transformer, providing added protection and ease of ownership when traveling between marinas and power sources.

The engine room is clean, organized, and well lit with new LED lighting, and includes a new engine-room vise for onboard maintenance. The vessel also carries new water tanks totaling 220 gallons, supporting extended cruising independence.

In 2024–2025, the boat received new bottom paint, a new dripless shaft seal, and new rudder poly bushings, reflecting consistent preventative maintenance.
Pilgrim Progress 42 Energy Independence & Connecti
A 600-watt solar system supports off-grid cruising and reduces generator run time. A chest freezer powered by a 2000-watt inverter, paired with Starlink, allows for extended cruising with modern connectivity and onboard convenience.
Pilgrim Progress 42 Tender Package
Included is a Highfield 9’6” aluminum-bottom tender, paired with a new 9.9 HP Yamaha outboard. The tender is equipped with a lifting harness designed for crane use and a dedicated cradle, creating a durable, easy-to-deploy setup for daily exploration and provisioning.
