 Boat Test Captains Report

"A boat that matches top-of-the-line construction with powerhouse performance is Edgewater's hot 265 CC.

Rock-solid construction is what you want beneath you when you’re chasing trophy-size fish offshore, and the 265's hand-laid fiberglass hull features a Permagrid stringer system that will give you confidence in any sea condition. Her foam-filled deep-V not only slices through waves like a sword, but also makes her virtually unsinkable.

Her cockpit is vast for a 26-footer, spanning 105 square feet. Twin pedestal seats are standard, but you’ll probably choose the optional leaning post workstation with bait-rigging station and sink. There’s a jumbo fishbox in the full-height transom cap, as well as an 18-gallon livewell. There’s also a tuna door, which makes those prize-winning hauls a lot easier.

And when the fish aren’t biting, you can head out to the swim platform for some sunning via a walkthrough transom. Swimming is safe with the convenient folding ladder.  After you dry off and go hunting for fishier waters, you’ll stay dry thanks to this acrylic windshield, which keeps the spray away. There’s also tons of storage space in the console.

The helm panel has plenty of room for all your gauges and electronics. Trim tabs, tilt steering, compass and a 500-gph bilge pump are standard. Up front, you’ll find deck space aplenty – two can fish without knowing the other is there. There’s also a cavernous insulated fishbox and an anchor-locker. Space is not a problem on this boat.

With her deep-V hull and reversed-chine design, the 265 glides gracefully through most all sea conditions. Edgewaters are known for their rugged construction, and this beauty is no exception. Her extra wide bow keeps you drier than many same-size boats, and a variable deadrise hull boosts fuel economy and ride comfort."
