Carl Schumacher was commissioned by Ralph Schacter an advid Connecticut sailor to update the original Alerion 26 footer to a more modern rig and underbody. This new boat, the Alerion Express 28  became an instant classic, a vessel with graceful early-twentieth-century looks and swift twenty-first-century performance.
