A number of years ago, sailor, master boatbuilder, and designer Clark Mills was casting about for a new concept in a shoal-draft daysailer that would rig and sail easily, quickly and comfortably. The new design would also need to gracefully accommodate family and friends with plenty of space for their gear and stores. Clarkââ?¬â?¢s concept focused on ââ?¬Å?a new breed of catboatââ?¬ï¿½ The result of Clarkââ?¬â?¢s effort is the Sun Cat ââ?¬Â¦ an easily driven and roomy daysailer and overnighter. The Sun Catââ?¬â?¢s shoal draft can gunkhole along coasts and in harbors not accessible to more burdensome yachts. It is conveniently trailered and beached. Best of all, the Sun Cat sails really well. It is also very stable and moves easily into a choppy sea.
