Overview
Stepping aboard Leap Second it is obvious this Sparkman and Stephens designed T40 is very well cared for and capable. She can be boarded from amidships or from a fold down stainless swim ladder at the transom. Decks are clear and cockpit is very functional.
Beneath the dodger and down the companionway leads you below, where the dedicated navigation station is immediately to port. Just forward is the full galley. Starboard is a very accommodating guest cabin with a generous quarter berth. The salon is just forward with large U-shaped dinette to port and settee to starboard. Both are serviced by a large teak folding table...which can also drop to convert the dinette to a comfy sleeping area for the occasional guests.
Working towards the bow and to port is the head which can be accessed privately from either the salon or forward cabin.
The second cabin is located in the bow and as just mentioned, has private access to the head, plenty of cabinetry and ventilation.

SalonTo port is a large U-shaped dinette. A teak fold- down teak table can accommodate six diners, also drops down to create a double sleeping area.
Large settee to starboard can accommodate one sleeper. Above the settee is a clever fold down cabinet that reveals a back lit liqueur cabinet safely holding bottles and glasses of choice even after a day of the burying the rail.
A traditional Balmar 120 diesel fired heater, while makes a wonderful centerpiece in the heart of this Tartan 40, its function keeps the cabin super toasty on a chilly fall evening on the hook or underway.
Cabinet interiors have the same high quality finish as the interior and neat as a pin.

Quarter Guest CabinThe quarter Guest Cabin is so accommodating that it is used as the owners stateroom. Serviced with Cruisair air-conditioning and digital SMX control panel. Generous hanging locker with 5 cedar lined drawers. Three opening ports in addition to dorade vent. Single settee is comfortable and handy for slipping on boots. Double bookshelf with removable fids. A teak bi-fold door provides privacy
Forward CabinStepping into the forward cabin finds another hanging locker to starboard with additional lockers and drawers . Cushions are covered in a tasteful fabric that allows an unmade bunk to look showroom neat.Very large oversize hatch not only provides ventilation but deck access to large sails stowed forward during regattas. Plenty of under bunk storage. Batteries are neatly and securely housed under the forward bunk.
Head
Forward of the salon and to port is the head ,featuring a stand up "stall" shower with molded in bench seat with a curtain surround, keeping the shower water away from the toilet and sink area. The head area was brilliantly designed with two doors for private access from either the salon or the forward cabin. Both the large sliding mirror sink cabinet and the shower cabinets interior are clean and neat as a pin.
The sink features both pressure hot and cold water as well as a foot operated spigot.
Overhead opening hatch allows natural ventilation.
