Hull & Deck
“Merlin” has white gelcoat topsides & deck with blue double boot stripes. There are teak toerails. The decks are white gelcoat with a patterned tan non-skid. The deck is constructed with a balsa cord unidirectional “E” glass laminate, hand laid with polyester resin.
There are stainless steel double-rail bow & stern pulpits with stainless steel stanchions and double lifelines with boarding gates to port and starboard, and a folding swim ladder and dinghy davits mounted on the transom. There is a bow stem fitting with tack fitting and integral anchor roller. “Merlin” is equipped with a molded foredeck anchor locker with an overboard drain, teak toerails and (6) stainless steel cleats. There are on-deck scupper drains to waterline outlets, and (4) coachroof teak handrails.

InteriorForecabin has a large 6.5’ by 6.6’ V-berth with (6) drawers, forward anchor locker, (2) under-mattress storage lockers, and (2) single-seat settees to port & starboard. A vanity and sink is located to starboard with a cedar-lined hanging locker to port. There is a large overhead hatch and two smaller hatches for light and ventilation plus a variable speed fan with white/red light.
Main Salon has Ultrasuede cushions by S&S Frabics (2011), and a centerline double drop leaf table with a “U” shaped settee to starboard and straight settee to port. A starboard extra berth insert with matching cushions is included. The 34 gal Diesel Fuel Tank (new 2009) is under the starboard settee; one 40 gal water tank is under the port settee. There is an amidships opening hatch and (6) opening ports for light and ventilation.
A forward-facing Nav Station is to port. Galley is to Starboard. There are many storage lockers throughout the main salon, galley, and nav station areas with a cedar-lined hanging locker aft of nav station.
Head is aft of the nav station to port. Toilet is a Raritan “Fresh Head” pressurized fresh water flush model with manual pump out (new 2015). Holding Tank is a SeaLand 15 gal (new in 2014 with all new piping) and SeaLand Tank Monitoring System with remote level gage in Head. Y-valve is located in the aft port locker (locked).
There is a Quarter Berth aft of the galley with storage lockers and cedar-lined hanging locker. Both the Quarter-berth and V-berth have high-density 5.5” latex foam 2-piece cushions with Sunbrella covers made by S&S Fabrics (all new 2009). Washable covers are included.
Interior Finish:
- Full Teak interior, oiled.
- Teak & Holly Sole throughout, varnished in gloss
Galley:
- Regal2 gimbaled CNG oven with (4) burners and maple cutting board; CNG tank is located in aft/stern CNG locker with room for an additional CNG tank
- (2) Stainless steel sinks on centerline with hot & cold pressure water plus manual fresh water foot-pump. All faucets replaced in 2009.
- Cold Storage Locker with two sections is accessible via two top-loading panels and a lower front loading door. Refrigeration unit replaced in 2010.
ElectronicsMerlin has a full complement of integrated electronics and instrumentation including multi-function chart-plotters, AIS, radar, navigation instrumentation, and auto-helm system:
- Raymarine E80 multi-function chart-plotters with Navionics Gold charts: Master chart-plotter with Gold chip is located at nav station; Slave chart-plotter is located on pedestal (both new 2009)
- ICOM 504 DSC VHF programmed with Merlin’s MMSI number with remote cockpit control and plug-in hailer (new 2011)
- Raymarine AIS 650 Transceiver (send/receive) integrated with E80 displays and VHF (new 2013)
- Raymarine Navigation/Tri-data instrument located at nav station and Navigation/LOG-data instrument located in cockpit
- Lowrance D5 Chartplotter/GPS unit mounted on pedestal for back-up and crew observation
- Raymarine ST7000 Autohelm system with two Control Boxes: (1) mounted on pedestal; (1) mounted on starboard side of cockpit opposite helm/pedestal
