Condition
If you are in the market for a Wakeboard boat; This is EXACTLY what you want to find. A new condition, experienced boat that has been LOVED its entire life.
Earlier in the week I took pictures of a 2015 with just 38 hours on the hour meter. Only used two months and here this one is going on 6 years old and has a professionally maintained with 408 hours and I honestly could not tell it was that old, Because it has been taken very good care of during this ownership.
While we are on the subject of hours of a marine engine and how many is too many? I can say that back in the 80-90's it was common to say take care of your vessel and use it you can expect to see 2000 hours before you encountered wear and possible overhaul. However, one of my childhood friends still has the family 1985 Chris Craft Scorpion 210 with a Merc 260 hp and it will break 7000 hours without an engine overhaul. So, I am a firm believer in that your boat drive will last as long as your boat if the owner loves their boat.
It really is not that difficult and with the more advanced system of today it will become more common place to see the gasoline marine engines manage higher hours especially with the use of Full Synthetic oil. The Chris Craft was born and bred on Amsoil Full synthetic from day one, which was the only full synthetic on the market at the time.
Some quick tips for keeping your boat as new as possible.
Rule one: Do not let disrespectful, ignorant slobs within 10 feet of your vessel. A troll will light up a cigarette without thinking twice and when it lands on the seat ... "Oh my Bad" won't cut it.
Professionally having your engine and drive at the End of each season is all you will need to do mechanically. Use full synthetic everything as it does not heat up and break down nearly as fast as regular oils. In most cases of fewer than 150 hours in a season the oil change should last all season. At the end of the season fill the gas tank to the rim with high octane. Will keep everything lubed inside. Gas will easily last 3 years without any issues. Use the boat often. A neglected boat is not good for the boat or you. Let the boat warm up in idle before putting the first load on Her. Throttle up, cruise and throttle down evenly. Act like you know what you are doing. In most cases the 100k it took to buy your vessel did not come easy. Don't be so easy to throw it away. If possible store the boat off the water. Winterize in temperature controlled area. Of course a fresh water vessel is always going to be in better shape than a salt water vessel. Also consider the pollution in the air. If you ever check the oil and it looks dirty, It is and change the oil because the dirt acts as sand paper. Same for Water ON your boat. The pollutants in the water will eat at your boat finish. So, Take a Freaking 2 minutes and wipe her down ever so often. All that to say this.
This 2010 Correct Craft 230 has been Lovingly tended to from day one. If the local lake wasn't having the dam repaired for the next 4 years this boat would remain part of the family for decades to come. However, just is not right to let her sit for 4 years. They will start over when the lake is full again. Their loss is your gain. If you are going to take care of this boat She will service you for a couple decades or longer. Even a troll would not be troubled for a decade providing they don't run it aground, which is usually the case. An insurance claim before they wear it out.
All in all, this boat is a no brainer. Everyone wins. The current owner won't have to store the boat for 4 years and the new owner gets a 100k boat at a huge discount. Ten thousand dollars for every 100 hours is not too bad. Also, it should be noted that the owner is willing to transport the vessel to its new home in lieu of silly low ball offers. This Vessel will be used this season; it just won't be every day. She is part of the family and they want to make sure she goes to a good home. Try as you might you will be hard pressed to find any defects on this very much loved vessel.
