Grady White Boats Information

Grady-White Boats was founded in 1958 by Glen Grady and Don White with the goal of  building recreational fishing boats. The original Grady-White designs were handcrafted in the old Carolina tradition featuring wide beams, flared bows, and wooden hulls. They earned their reputation for exceptional seaworthiness and durability early on in the days before electronics when coastal fishermen found fish with a compass and needed safe, dependable vessels to carry them through the roughest of conditions.

Grady-White Boats was purchased by the Smith family in 1968. They successfully revamped the building process by replacing the original wooden hulls with more advanced and longer lasting fiberglass hulls. Over the years Grady-White has pioneered many innovations that help keep them at the leading edge of sportfishing boat production and design.

Their first walkaround cabin design was introduced in 1975 and it offered easy access forward for fishing and anchoring as well as the protection of a cabin and a full windshield. Today they build walkarounds that range from 20’ to 30’.

Grady-White Boats for Sale In 1981, the introduction of the 9’6” wide beamed Sailfish 25 began the trend toward big, beamy outboard powered boats. In 1989, they exceeded the 30-foot barrier with the introduction of the Marlin 300. In the 90's they unveiled their new “secret weapon” hull technology, the SeaV2 series. The SeaV2 was an exclusive design for Grady-White by C. Raymond Hunt Associates.

Grady-White's commitment to excellence has never and will never change. They continuously refine their designs as technology develops. It's no wonder that in 2008 Grady-White was ranked highest in customer satisfaction with Coastal Fishing Boats (17–30 feet), seven times in a Row and they have received this recognition each time J.D. Power and Associates has conducted studies in that particular marine market segment.

Grady-White considers boating, sportfishing and outdoor activities to be great gifts for our society and their rich history reflects almost fifty years of appreciation and respect for those gifts.
