OVERVIEW
OVERVIEW:
The Dufour 36P has a modern look and feel, and it should. Designed by Umberto Felci, she is intended to be a forgiving racer/cruiser with simple sail handling, exciting performance, and cruising comforts.
Construction is of solid glass (no core) below the waterline, with foam core above waterline and in the deck. Vacuum bagging and resin injection processes are used iin the molding. Keel is T-shaed with a lead bulb.
The interior layout feature both forward and aft cabins with double berths (both 6'7" long), a large salon (6'4" headrooom), a very functional galley, and a perfectly positioned aft head. A dedicated nav station with seat is another advantage - these seem to be disappearing on many designs, and it is a useful feature for many activities (including navigation!).
The storage available is excellent in every way. Interior finishes have a bright, elegant and contemporary feel. Natural lighting is excellent. The salon table is large and more than ample for a family dinner or an evening with guests.
I find the cockpit and deck spaces to be exceptional. The cockpit has split helms, which opens up traffic patterns, improves sight lines and makes sail handling, witht eh German style split main sheet, a simple undertaking when sailing short handed. She has all the modern sail handling conveniences, including adjustable jib tracks, low profile headsail roller furling, and a retractable bow sprit for Asymetrical upwind and downwind sails.
