Construction
World renown naval architect Robert C. Johnston not only designed the vessel, but supervised throughtout the construction at appropriate intervals. Welding done by Willis Welding in Niagara Falls, Canada. The vessel was designed to be self-righting and has 5 watertight compartments. All windows in superstructure are 1/2" tempered glass set in heavy-duty frames. Polyurethane foam sprayed throughout vessel interior for insulation. There are 2 interconnected seachests with all water intakes coming through either of the two thruhulls. A universal joint system was custom-designed by Spicer Drive Train Components to assure the engine mounts are not loaded with horizontal forces which reduces vibration and sound and negating engine mount stress and movement. Built from marine grade aluminum 5000 series, the following are the plating thickness:
Hull: 3/8"
Keel: 2" at bow and stern sections; 3/4" amidships
Decks: 3/16"
