Free Spirit is a production built twin diesel screw trawler constructed of fiberglass, designed with curved stem, semi displacement underbody with full length keel, transom stern with varnished teak overlay, recessed weather decks, raised trunk cabins forward and aft, raised wheel house through amidships with flying bridge atop. The hull is of solid hand laid fiberglass construction from a female mold utilizing woven roving, stranded mat and polyester resin through-out. The semi-displacement hull underbody showing a full length keel providing good propeller protection, bow thruster tunnel forward, twin rudders, and hard chines. The hull is reinforced by a framework of longitudinal and transverse corded stringers, main engine bed logs, structural bulkheads and interior joinery, all of which is bonded to hull. The hull topsides are finished with white gelcoat with red boot stripe in well maintained condition with only minor scrapes and abrasions. Molded rub rails are provided at shear, fitted with bronze strikers. Lower rub rail extends from aft of amidships to stern with bronze striker. The transom is fitted with a teak swim platform with teak steps at transom and retractable stainless steel re-boarding ladder with teak treads, in good condition. Platform is supported by (4) four substantial bronze brackets, through bolted to transom. Weather decks are cored fiberglass overlaid with teak, all teak decking was reportedly replaced in 2015-16 installed with ââ?¬Å?West Epoxyââ?¬ï¿½ and screws, and like new. Weather decks are encircled by raised gunwale with a teak cap. Stainless steel bow rail extends back to bright finished teak handrails fitted in atop bronze stanchions, boarding gates are provided port, starboard and at transom. Bow with teak pulpit with single bronze anchor roller, 12 VDC anchor windlass well secured, bronze hawse pipe with cap over anchor locker. Side decks extend alongside cabin with handrails fitted adjacent at cabin sides. Scuppers are provided in deck aft, with freeing ports amidships. Bronze hawse holes and bronze mooring cleats are provided forward, amidships, and aft in raised gunwales. Superstructure has forward cabin trunk with escape/ ventilation hatch atop. Wheelhouse is octagonal forward with three windows fitted with nylon covers, center window is hinged for ventilation. Cabin sides have fixed windows. Cabin entry doors are provided port and starboard. Aft deck accessed via teak steps, with teak overlay atop trunk. Flying bridge is encircled by raised fiberglass cowl with welded aluminum handrail forward with a venturi windshield and new teak decking. Bridge deck is sheltered by a stainless steel framed canvas bimini top with isinglass curtains forward , upper deck encircled with stainless steel rails fitted with canvas courtesy cloth. Engine controls are on center. Fore and aft facing seats with vinyl covered closed foam cushions are provided port and starboard forward over storage. Timber signal mast on hinged base is aft with timber boom and spreaders, stainless steel standing rigging, spreader lights, anchor light, and radar attached. Stainless steel safety rail is well secured with stairs provided aft.
AccommodationsWith a rope locker access at bow followed next aft by forward berthing cabin with V-berth, hanging locker, drawer storage, fixed windows, and overhead escape/ventilation hatch. Next aft to starboard is enclosed head compartment with white Formica bulkheads, vanity with mirror, molded countertop with sink and faucet fixture, ample storage over and under, handheld shower fixture over teak grate. Next aft up three steps, with engine room access door under is the main saloon with lower helm to starboard with engine controls, monitoring systems, electronics, and electrical distribution panels. To port is inline galley with twin stainless steel sinks, 3 burner propane stove top, microwave/convection oven under, top load deep freezer to starboard below settee, new upright refrigerator/freezer, Formica counter tops, and ample storage. Saloon, as all interior spaces, is fitted out in all teak veneered plywood and solid teak trim for bulkheads and furnishings, padded white vinyl overheads with teak hand rail, upholstered curtains, teak parquet flooring throughout, upholstered L-shaped seating with storage and freezer under, teak double drop leaf table, and ample lighting. Aft cabin with companionway to port, enclosed toilet compartment to starboard with vanity, shower/tub outboard, cabin with double berth to starboard, small berth/settee to port, ample drawer, locker, storage. Companionway aft provides access to stern deck with steps, sliding hatch, and doorway. Ventilation to interior space provided via opening doors, large forward saloon window, overhead escape ventilation hatch, and aft companionway. Machinery space and bilge spaces are accessed via flush fit plates in sole throughout vessel. Cabin spaces with ample storage, flush fit bilge access plates, adequate heating and cooling in all spaces, good lighting AC and DC, good ventilation, food preparation area well laid out with adequate appliances for food preparation, clean up, and storage. Head compartments with well secured marine toilets, vanities with sinks and faucet fixtures, showers with drains to remote pumps, found clean and well maintained.
GalleyThe main galley is forward and to port along the main cabin. Just behind the salon entry side door is the refrigerator/freezer and additional storage.
