Mainship Trawlers Information

Mainship Trawlers built over 1200 of the traditionally styled cruisers before they began building a European inspired line of cruisers in 1988. The new boat line did well for several years, but Mainship's real destiny was to return to the trawlers that made them famous. In 1994, the first new Trawler, a 35 sedan, was introduced and the market accepted the new design with enthusiasm.

Today, Mainship Corporation is the leading manufacturer of production trawlers building 6 different models with many more on the drawing boards. Production is split between the St. Augustine facility it shares with the reacquired Luhrs Corporation and a new facility in Salisbury, MD.

Mainship, along with its sister companies in the Luhrs Marine Group, is an employee ownership company. This means that all employees want to share in the success of creating value and satisfaction for all the Mainship owners for years to come.

Mainship is very dedicated to realizing a higher level of quality without sacrificing the value position Mainship has earned through the years. A major investment in facilities and equipment has provided them with an edge over their competitors.

Mainship Trawlers

Through the use of a Computerized 5-Axis Mill Router in conjunction with new exclusive CAD/CAM software allows the molds and patterns to be so exacting that all parts and pieces will join together with the least amount of labor and finishing. This method results in a substantial savings of time in the assembly and also increases the quality of the parts thereby providing a superior product overall.

Mainship has made quality enhancements in the cabinet areas by employing a computerized CNC router. This machine is calibrated to exacting standards which gives a perfect fit every time. This procedure provides a waste factor that is almost nonexistent. The computer utilizes all sheet fed products, whether they are 4’ x 8’ piece of furniture-grade teak or a sheet of durable Corian.

The company has also incorporated a new computerized fabric cutting machine. This machine can cut virtually anything from fiberglass to upholstery precisely without waste. This methodology allows fiberglass mat and woven fabrics to be cut in a fraction of the time thereby significantly reducing labor and increasing the quality of the finished product.
