Hull Shape & Construction
The structural design of the hull was approved by RINA (in category A of the EC homologation system). This is a further guarantee of the quality of the structure and also means that the very latest techniques and materials were used. The hull and all the superstructures (deck, deck house and fly) are made using the infusion technique. The construction technology used has allowed weight to be reduced while improving construction control and build quality. The deckhouse is made from vinyl ester resin which provides improved rigidity and mechanical resistance while weighing less than traditional fibreglass materials. The bow and stern, engine room and crew cabin trays are structural trays made with the infusion technique. Fibre glass structure with multiaxial fabrics and powder bonding agent as well as carbon fibre are used to strengthen the areas subjected to the highest stress. Neopentilic and isophtalic spray gelcoat. PVC foam is used for the sandwich panels on the hull, deck and superstructures. The engine room, collision and bow bulkheads are made from PVC infused sandwich. The GRP fuel tank is strapped to the hull and features a bonded strapped top tank; access is by means of a 400 x 600mm stainless steel or fibreglass watertight hatch with seals and through bolts. Structural calculations were checked using FEM model analysis. Vinyl ester resin (maximum resistance to osmosis and print through marking) was used on the entire hull. lsophthalic resin was used for the superstructures.
