Accommodations
Riviera is proud to announce the launch of its new 63 Flybridge with a raft of engineering and design enhancements based on its predecessor, the superb 61 Flybridge.
When the 61 Flybridge, featuring a Frank Mulder (the Dutch superyacht specialist) designed hull, was introduced to the boating public in 2008, the highly regarded Australian Captain Bob Jones described it as the best running boat in the Riviera fleet.
Now with a number of ground breaking design changes, the 63 offers a whole lot more capability, offshore and at anchor, and is available with either an enclosed flybridge or open flybridge.
Riviera Director of Brand and Communication Stephen Milne describes the new 63 as a luxurious and highly capable long range offshore vessel, with many popular design cues taken from the fleet�s prestigious flagship, the Riviera 75.
The new 63 features a galley positioned central to the party, a cockpit that is an extension of the live-aboard space inside, a master stateroom that is bathed in light and fresh air, an enclosed flybridge that serves as a sky lounge and refinements to the hull that further enhance performance and sea keeping ability.
The new galley is positioned aft, adjacent to the saloon bulkhead, and separated from the large sociable cockpit space by a hinged awning window and full tinted glass door. The result is an extension of light and space from outside in, with guests easily able to converse with whoever is in the galley.
The latest European appliances are housed within cabinetry with soft close drawers and encased in high gloss timber ââ?¬â?? the hallmark of every Riviera, and the new 61 is certainly no exception.
A Miele extraction hood vents cooking odours to the outside through the flybridge structure. Non-slip and hard wearing Amtico flooring is a striking feature of the galley, and is easily maintained. All refrigeration and dishwasher drawers are held in place at sea with machined aluminium cam locks.
Galley appliances comprise a Miele combination microwave and oven, efficient induction cooktop and slimline dishwasher installed within the U-shape galley, set to port and out of the way of the main fore and aft traffic corridor. A huge working area set atop a solid surface benchtop features an underslung stainless steel sink, an enclosed 27 litre waste bin, dedicated cup, plate, pot and cutlery drawers and ample storage. Riviera designers have carefully ensured that every amount of available space has been fully utilised.
Forward of the galley, also to port, there is an option for twin bar stools and an L-shape lounge with convertible dinette table with seating capacity for six plus two.
Opposite the galley to starboard there is a bar area with ice maker and fridge set under ergonomically raked flybridge stairs, with solid teak treads nested on flawless tig-welded stainless steel supports.
A special feature of the saloon bar is an electric lift glassware cabinet which retracts into the varnished cabinetry while under way, yet rises to the occasion at the touch of a button. Powered by whisper quiet German drive technology, the cabinet features LED backlit shelving and is sure to impress.
Forward of the bar there is a spacious U-shape lounge and dinette with seating for 12 well positioned to take advantage of the large, 40 inch TV mounted on the forward dash.
Throughout the 63 there is a fine blend of varnished timber and fabric wall panelling, creating a soft and acoustically correct ââ?¬Ë?feelââ?¬â?¢ to the interior.
Recessed grab rails are set into the head-liner, as is an overhead locker, while air-conditioning is ducted almost invisibly from behind a varnished timber facia panel that run virtually the full length of the saloon.
The very large main saloon is bright and airy, with 360 degree tinted windows and offering views from every seating angle and position. This is the social hub of the vessel.
However, the party is not constrained to stay just indoors. The new 63 has taken its cue from the much larger Riviera 75 and has incorporated social seating into the cockpit, which is no longer the sole domain of the sports fisherman.
The cockpit now doubles as an alfresco dining experience, with optional opposing fore and aft facing mezzanine seating either side of a solid teak table. The mezzanine also contains a fridge and storage space. A full barbecue centre with sink, rubbish bin and storage is located centrally within the transom, sealed from the weather when underway but creating an entirely different focus for the party at day�s end.
The practicalities of a sport fisher with fully optioned fighting cockpit are enhanced with features like below deck self-draining fish bins, game chair mounting plate solidly glassed into the cockpit floor, and recessed toe kicks. An extensive options list covering rod holders, live bait tank wells and outriggers ensures the full versatility of the 63.
Overlooking the cockpit is the spacious enclosed flybridge, featuring forward helm and aft docking station. The open flybridge option features an aft helm with a U-shaped lounge around a convertible table with a settee opposite.
The enclosed flybridge features a hinged awning window and glass door that bolt open to bring outdoors in and unify the space. Wrap around seating to port features folding arm rests with functional storage underneath and a drop down dinette table. This is a truly luxurious sky lounge.
To starboard there is a wet bar with bottle and glass storage. A 26 inch flatscreen TV is wall mounted above the wet bar. A draw fridge is located under the base of the pedestal ââ?¬â?? mounted crew seat to starboard which fronts the forward dash.
The upholstered wrap around forward helm can accommodate up to three 12 inch displays. Air-conditioning ducts can be vented against the windscreen to demist the glass in humid conditions. Opening side windows feature positive seals and deep drainage slots. Night-time privacy can be assured with retractable venetian blinds. And throughout the 63, energy saving LED lighting illuminates this social space with a warm ambiance.
The aft docking station is located aft to the starboard side of the external flybridge door with excellent visibility of the cockpit and aft quarters of the boat behind. There is an option to upgrade to Palm Beach single side mount engine control levers, which are a favourite with sport fishermen.
To port an aft-facing lounge accommodates two people who wish to escape attention indoors, or talk privately while the party continues below in the cockpit.
At day�s end, the master suite below decks will be a haven for weary travellers. Acoustically shielded using a blend of soft fabric panelling, wool carpeting and visually stunning high gloss timber, the 63 now features a flood of light and fresh air from a massive horizontal fixed port mounted in the hullside.
Comprising fixed laminated safety glass and opening portholes handcrafted from stainless steel and wired to the boat�s ignition alarm system, the newly designed hull windows bring a flood of light and fresh air into the main cabin to port and into one of two guest cabins to starboard, depending upon which option is chosen by the owner. The starboard day head also benefits from this fixed port light.
In the master suite a queen sized bed aligned fore and aft now takes advantage of the large port lights, while a host of cleverly engineered features make storage of luggage and clothing easy.
Proven German technology electrically lifts a portion of the queen sized mattress to reveal a spacious step-down storage locker, with large soft-close drawers. Cedar-lined hanging lockers and bedside drawers complement a cabin that includes its own ensuite, with shower cubicle, vacu-flush toilet, raised porcelain sink and solid surface bench top.
The VIP guest cabin features a queen size island bed and offers its own ensuite with ample drawer and hanging locker storage. An optional three cabin layout is available with extra space absorbed by the VIP guest cabin, to include a private lounge or a writing bureau. Regardless of optional layout, the below decks accommodates Miele washer and drier, either totally enclosed behind cabinetry or mounted below a bunk in the starboard aft cabin. The fabric lined companionway and stairway link the accommodation space with the main saloon. This interior finish has proven very popular on the 70 Flybridge as it is hard wearing to high traffic and enhances the accommodation space acoustics.
In engineering terms the 63 retains its original shaft drive configuration, and base power is twin 1015hp Caterpillar diesel engines with a fuel capacity of 5,650 litres (1,492 gallons) and depending upon which engine option is selected a top speed of around 28-34 knots.
The new 63 incorporates the latest technology including state-of-the-art digital switching for all DC electrical components, using the proven C-Zone CAN bus system to create fingertip control of electronic functions. At the touch of a 10 inch LCD screen ââ?¬â?? positioned in a cabinet at the base of the flybridge steps - a multitude of pre-set functions can be activated. Whether you are at sea or in party mode at the marina, the C-Zone digital switching system will present a specific menu offering control of all necessary functions. Of course, C-Zone allows for manual override so owners can customise the system to suit their personal requirements.
The 63 is a seaworthy, highly capable long-range offshore vessel. Rivieraââ?¬â?¢s in-house naval architect Alan Dowd has worked with the Riviera design team to further enhance running trim and performance. Alan has also split the midship fuel tank to lower the rolling momentum at sea and at rest. The highly qualified naval architect has pared away weight from non-structural components ââ?¬â?? particularly in the upper decks ââ?¬â?? to ensure the 63ââ?¬â?¢s responsive and fuel efficient.
The hand-laminated fibreglass hull retains its solid feel offshore, thanks to quality construction and a deadrise of 12.5 degrees. Alan has widened the planning strakes in the forward section of the hull to further reduce spray.

AT A GLANCE
� Optional accommodation layout The standard accommodation offering is four cabins and three bathrooms with the master stateroom amidships, a guest stateroom forward, and two cabins on the starboard side. An optional layout is three cabins and three bathrooms, with a larger stateroom forward, an athwartships lower berth in the aft starboard cabin and the option of either a private lounge or a writing bureau in the forward stateroom in place of the fourth cabin.
� Internal Staircase The internal staircase is designed to connect the flybridge and saloon as one space, making access to the flybridge both safe and comfortable.
� Enclosed Flybridge The fully enclosed flybridge includes a flowing lounge along the port side for increased comfort and utilisation of space. The aft viewing deck has a three-seater lounge and is connected with the flybridge interior through a stainless steel awning window. An electric sunroof adds natural light.
� Saloon A large L-shaped lounge wraps around the port aft quarter of the saloon, opposite the internal staircase. A liquor cabinet with bar fridge, icemaker and electric lift glass storage feature is under the staircase. A six-seat dinette is opposite the galley, which includes all the appliances to make it a chef�s delight.
� Moulded Mezzanine Upholstered mezzanine seating provides a great viewing platform to watch the game fish action, and provides another outdoor lounging area. The cockpit is designed with wraparound side deck steps to dramatically improve access to the forward deck. For Riviera, the creation of the new 63 enclosed flybridge was an opportunity to utilise our knowledge, talent and technology in new and exciting ways.

Going Beyond Expectations
It is always a thrill to embark on the design of a new vessel, but when that vessel is intended to attract the most sophisticated purchasers - usually those with considerable experience of owning prestige vessels - the challenge is especially welcome.
For Riviera, the creation of the 63 Enclosed Flybridge was an opportunity to utilise our knowledge, talent and technology in new and exciting ways. Being such a large vessel, we had the luxury of space to fully express our creativity and passion for perfection.
From the hull construction to the joinery and from the entertainment systems to the engine room, the intelligence of the design, the quality of the materials and the standard of workmanship will astonish you.
For instance, our CAD/CAM (computer aided design and manufacture) software assists our new product team to produce the optimum design. It guides the cutting of the mould plug that ultimately results in absolute precision in the manufacture of the hull, deck and flybridge.
Weââ?¬â?¢ve installed ââ?¬Ë?quick disconnectââ?¬â?¢ wash-down fittings that allow instant pressurised water without having to turn on a tap. Yes, it is a tiny detail, but one of hundreds of tiny details and innovations that make a big difference when it comes to on-board comfort.
Similarly, our underwater exhaust system offers quieter and cleaner performance to provide you with a quiet and clean cockpit.

The Saloon in the Sky
The flybridge is destined to become a favourite spot for socialising with family and friends. It is delightfully spacious and features huge lounges, a full wet bar with granite bench top, a sizeable (and folding) table, plus an independent audio system ââ?¬â?? one of four such systems that allow different music to be played in different on-board locations.
So that you can keep your eye on things, monitoring cameras fitted to the saloon, cockpit and engine room feed through to the flybridge display screens.
You will also find an LCD TV, air conditioning, and the most exquisite wrap-around helm with the luxury of twin Pompanette Platinum helm chairs. An electrically operated sunroof together with the option of sliding side windows means you can also take full advantage of fine weather and fresh air.
On this model, we have opted for an especially deep flybridge overhang. This not only increases the size of the flybridge aft deck, but provides considerable shade and weather protection to the cockpit mezzanine.
The internal staircase connecting the flybridge with the saloon provides an easy flow between the two areas and it makes all-weather cruising that much more comfortable ââ?¬â?? in fact it is the perfect complement to an enclosed flybridge.
The same relentless attention to detail and commitment to your pleasure is to be found in the cockpit. It�s there in a new style cockpit floor, a moulded one-piece structure that is utterly watertight; it�s there in the quality of the upholstered mezzanine seating and the convenience of integrated drink holders; and it�s there in newly designed lockers and hawse holes with large mooring cleats.
Intelligent, user-friendly design and quality manufacturing are evident at every turn. It is even there in small fiberglass parts such as hatches, which are extremely robust yet display a beaufitful, lustrous finish due to new injection moulding technology.
Relaxing Made Easy
With a stainless steel framed outward opening door and large hinged out awning window, there is a smooth flow between the saloon and cockpit. This also enhances the sense of light and space within the saloon - and with the option of a front windscreen and opening side windows, you can make it even brighter and lighter.
The ambience in the saloon is both elegant and highly contemporary. For example, instead of carpet at the saloon entry and foot of the internal staircase we have installed easy to clean, durable and modern Amtico flooring. The timber pelmets with their high gloss finish also add a touch of style.
Incidentally, all timberwork on 63 benefits from our varnishing facility, one of the most advanced in Australia and one that produces the most flawless, mirror-like finish.
When it comes to entertaining or relaxing after a hard day�s cruising or fishing, the saloon is an oasis. The lounge is enormous and clad in the finest leather, the dinette is large enough for a banquet, the lighting is subtle and sophisticated� and the inclusions are endless. There�s a liquor cabinet with bar fridge, ice maker and electric lift glass storage cabinet; there�s a an LCD TV and Bose Lifestyle audio system; and, just to make life that little bit easier, the opening and closing of the rod storage in the headliner is electrically operated.
If you are accustomed to leaving your creature comforts behind when you set foot on your boat, the 63 is a very different story.
And never more so than in the catering department. From the large granite benchtop to the inline water filtration system, you have an extremely well equipped and highly functional galley at your disposal.
There are many ingredients to this gourmet galley, a well conceived layout and copious amounts of storage space. With its appliances like a 4 burner electric induction cook top, a 3 drawer fridge, freezer and microwave.
Sleeping More Soundly
Our debate whether to make the 63 a three or four cabin vessel was resolved when we decided to offer you the choice: if you are likely to embark on voyages of a few days with many friends or family members, then you may prefer the four cabin option; if you envisage longer voyages with a smaller party, the three cabin option gives you the luxury of a below-deck lounge area.
Both the forward and master stateroom offer the comfort of a walk-around, queen-size island bed with a quality inner spring mattress. Gas struts to the bed make the under-bed storage easy to access.
You will also find ample cupboard and hanging space ââ?¬â?? and the cedar-lined lockers keep your clothing nice and fresh. The queen beds also feature a new upholstered bed-head to provide superior comfort when sitting up reading or to view your LCD TV.
Should you select the three-cabin option, the increased size of the forward stateroom allows for a private lounge or writing bureau. The three-cabin configuration allows for a full height linen cupboard in the companionway and relocates the washer and dryer from the aft guest cabin into a dedicated and considerably larger utility centre, also in the companionway.
The master en suite and other two bathrooms have a delightfully indulgent ambience. Marble vanity bench tops, above-bench chic porcelain bowls, quality mixer taps, leading brand shower-ware� as is the case throughout the 63, every fixture and fitting is an expression of good taste and fine craftsmanship.
At the end of the day, sleeping easy comes with having confidence in your boat and the satisfaction of having made the wisest choice. That thousands of Riviera owners upgrade to another Riviera suggests that this fabulous new model will give you the soundest of sleeps.
