Vessel Walk Thru
Grand Banks Yachts are a class apart, and that is especially evident in this Aleutian 59 which was highly optioned out at the factory, and owner customized items added to enhance her looks and functionality. Many enhancements were developed as custom items by thoughtful owners working with a knowledgeable dealer.
With her full satin varnished teak interior and varnished teak and holly soles this Aleutian 59 provides accommodations for up to five below decks in her three stateroom three head layout. Four reverse cycle air conditioning units are capable of keeping the interior comfortable in temperatures well below freezing to over 100 degrees. If air conditioning is not desired when temperatures are moderate, screen doors, windows, hatches and ports provide a great deal of natural light as well as ventilation. Artificial lighting is equally well thought out with extensive recessed lighting on dimmer switches in all compartments and swivel style reading lamps at all berths and settees. All hanging lockers are cedar lined and fitted with lighting
Starting below decks, the gracious Master Stateroom is furthest aft featuring a true queen size berth with large cargo drawers below and night stands either side. A built in desk/dressing table is to port with a set of drawers and cedar lined hanging locker, fitted with a safe outboard. To port is extensive storage in a bureau with drawers aft and a half height and then a full height hanging locker. A flat panel TV is at the forward bulkhead of course wired to the yachts satellite entertainment system. Adjoining the stateroom is the Master Head to starboard fitted with a separate shower stall compartment , Vacuflush W.C. and large Silestone topped vanity with under mount sink and extensive storage.
The single Guest Stateroom is just forward and to port. The yacht was ordered with the thought this may be used as office space, but if one desired the thwart-ship desk aft could easily be removed and a second berth installed in its place. A single berth is forward and there is plenty of storage in drawers and a hanging locker.
The Day Head/Laundry is opposite to starboard, again equipped with Vacuflush W.C., vanity and locker with a stacked washer dryer unit. There is an ensuite shower in this head.
Forward most is the VIP Stateroom with island queen berth with cargo drawer storage under and additional storage in lockers outboard. A large lined hanging locker aft and to starboard. The adjoining Private Head aft and to port incorporates a separate stall shower with seat, vanity, Vacuflush W.C. and plenty of storage.
A curved stairwell leads to the Helm Deck with P&S side doors with screens, and featuring the Helm Console on centerline with all vessel navigation equipment, adjacent vessel controls including electrical panel and Stidd Chair. Aft and to starboard is the L-shaped dining settee with storage under, and two teak chairs. Varnished teak pedestal table with leaves.
The U-Shaped Galley, like the rest of the yacht, is fitted with several optional items including drop down dish lockers, additional 3/4 height storage lockers aft of the L-settee and two additional Sub-Zero freezer/refrigeration drawers adjacent to the port side door. Other equipment includes a deep double basin sink, four burner electric cook top and convection microwave oven, two standard Sub-Zero refrigeration/freezer drawers (there are a total of four) and Fisher Paykel drawer type dishwasher. There is an abundance of storage in several lockers and drawers. There is also a hidden "pass thorough" in a starboard side cabinet to hand drinks, sandwiches and the like to the flying bridge.
Down three steps to the Salon with L-settee with storage under to port and a varnished teak hi/lo table with attractive inlay. To starboard there are two swivel barrel chairs with the entertainment system in a teak cabinet between them. A flat panel TV may be installed in a pop up within this cabinet (it was custom fit with a wine storage rack) while a 2nd pop up at end of the L-settee house the TV (on a swivel bracket) to optimize viewing comfort from the barrel chairs and forward end of the settee. Forward are book shelves P&S. A sliding glass door with screen is on the centerline providing easy access the the aft deck when temperatures are moderate, greatly expanding this entertainment space.
The Aft Deck features an over 8' long settee with storage under and the optional teak table with leaves of about the same length. Hatches in the deck provide access to what can only be described as a voluminous lazarette space. The yacht was ordered with the optional wing doors so that when underway they could be closed keeping wind at bay and thereby making the space pleasant to use in a wide range of conditions.
A spiral molded fiberglass staircase is forward leading to the Flying Bridge while a cabinet housing a U-Line Icemaker is to starboard. After delivery to the US, a highly customized stainless and canvas package was developed to make what is normally an exposed staircase to the flying bridge fully enclosed without impacting the attractive lines of the yacht. The canvas extends aft to enclose the grill area and the two 16,000 BTU reverse cycle air conditioning units keep the space comfortable in a wide range of climates, otherwise the "smiles" in the canvas package can be opened to provide an abundance of natural ventilation. The Flying Bridge features an L-settee to starboard and a straight settee to port (both with storage under), with Stidd Chairs forward at the helm console. Additional cabinets house a refrigeration unit for drinks, electric grill and sink.
Back to the main deck where wide side decks lead forward to a door with walk in access to the engine room is on the port side, up three steps to the Portuguese Bridge with storage lockers forward and centerline access to the fore deck. Bench seating, again with storage under is forward of the bridge enclosure and additional lockers are P&S of the anchor pulpit.

Construction, Hull and DeckFiberglass hull with molded in plank lines, stainless steel capped rub rails and quarter rails. The finish is original white gel coat kept polished to a high gloss, with an Awlgrip Flag Blue boot stripe. For superior blister resistance the hull was laid up with Hydrex resin in the skin laminates and then barrier coated at the factory. Below the chines the hull is solid fiberglass and is closed cell foam cored above. The entire structure was vacuum bagged. The bottom is finished with an ablative black anti-fouling.
Fiberglass house and deck with cross linked closed cell PVC foam coring and with a teak deck over lay on the aft deck, side decks Portuguese bridge and flying bridge on white gel-coat. The teak deck overlay has been kept coated with Semco, a water weight coating that does not fill the grain thereby leaving a great looking non-skid finish while preventing the wear that otherwise occurs. The foredeck and aft section of the house top is finished with Moondust Awlgrip with Griptex. The house has been kept "polished" with Permanon in lieu of wax. Permanon is a nano-technology, high gloss easy to apply spray on finish. All rails, deck hardware etc. is stainless steel and kept polished and waxed.

Additional InformationA MIRACLE is arguably the finest Aleutian 59 ever built. The listing broker was intimately involved with her order and it is difficult to account for the collaborative hours spent given to detailed discussions about the options, layout, fabrics etc. Since delivery she has been lightly used and in inside heated storage leaving the yard just before Memorial Day and and returning Columbus Day weekend each year. When away from the yard a seasonal full time Captain has kept her to the highest standard as has the yard that assisted with her commissioning and stored her every year since.
