Design Brief
Sabre turned to Jim Taylor to design a daysailor with the style and elegance of sailing yachts of a bygone era, and added to the design mandate blending the performance of a youthful sport boat with "grown-up" ease of handling available with today's modern sailing hardware. To merely use a number to describe such a boat seemed inadequate, and so the name "Spirit" was chosen to better describe the very essence of this yacht. The overhangs of the Spirit's hull convey a traditional elegance, while her nominally narrow beam allows her to sail beautifully and responsively.... Her carbon spar, chosen for added performance and increased stability.... Keels and rudder, designed by Jim Taylor Yacht Design, offer the latest in technology and performance.....Her simple sailing rig consists of an easily managed self-tacking jib and a conventional mainsail to ensure optimum performance. Her furling jib is attached on to a below-deck furler, so that only the sail is visible above the deck line, and her mainsheet is led from an aft deck traveler to the helm, allowing short or single handed sailing with little effort..... cockpit is long and hospitable and offers comfortable seating for her owners and guests. Below there is a simple yet elegant layout built with the Maine craftsmanship and quality for which Sabre Yachts is so well known, such as dovetailed drawer boxes, inlaid steps and tables, and laminated trims. A fully functional galley is found to port of the companionway and to starboard is an enclosed head. Her navigational/chart table is forward and to port at the forward end of the salon. Her salon offers twin port and starboard settees which surround an inlaid centerline drop leaf table. A traditional teak and holly sole adds warmth to this elegant cabin....

ConstructionHULL:
- Single unit, vacuum bagged E glass, cored with PVC, closed cell PVC foam
- ISO NPG gelcoat

- Gold cove stripe

DECK:
- Single unit, resin infused fiberglass with Airex PVC foam core for stiffness, and High Density PVC core in high stress areas
- The deck is fastened to the hull using stainless steel thru bolts and 3M 5200 Polyurethane sealant in the deck to hull joint
- Molded in diamond pattern Smoke White non-skid in contrasting color

- (4) ea pop-up and two style horn mooring cleats
- Self-draining foredeck anchor locker with drain and pad eye for anchor rode
- Bow & stern rail stanchions
- Double lifelines of stainless steel 7 x 7 wire with port and
starboard boarding gates and braced gate stanchions - Stern transom mounted swim ladder slides into transom for storage
- All lifeline terminals and turnbuckles are swaged stainless steel
- Solid varnished teak toerails
- Stainless steel companionway handrail and cabin top hand rails
STEERING SYSTEM:
- Edson wheel steering with 48� five spoke Teak Rimmed Destroyer wheel, with SS guard and wheel brake
- Ritchie SP5 compass mounted in binnacle
- Balanced rudder is molded fiberglass bonded to a carbon fiber rudder post passing through a removable self aligning roller bearing and support tube securely laminated to the hull

- Satin varnished interior cherry finish with teak & holly sole
