49' Alden Flybridge Express 49 Flybridge

Exterior Description and Features

Description:

• This Alden 49 Flybridge Express has a V-bottomed hull with a raked stem with anchor roller, spray strakes, propeller pockets, a short deep skeg keel between the propeller pockets, twin inboard rudders, and a transom stern with TNT hydraulic platform with tender chocks. There are stainless steel capped rubrails on the hull sides, there are varnished teak toe rails, and stainless steel bow rails with lower course lifelines run well aft along the side decks to the cockpit. 
• The deck layout is that of a flying bridge cruiser. The foredeck has the anchor windlass and two flush hatches over the chain locker. There is a low forward cabin trunk with ventilators and skylight hatches over the accommodations followed by a raised main cabin trunk with large windows, an aft door, and a flying bridge above. Side decks lead around the cabin to the cockpit where there is a port side ladder to the flying bridge, an aft settee and transom door, coaming lockers, and a hatch over steps to the engine compartment. The flying bridge has a centerline helm station with two pedestal pilot sets and a starboard aft “L” shaped settee with table.

• Storage - (2) large storages to port and startboard, and (3) storages underneath settee, which has full complement of cleaning supplies, hose.
• Access hatch for lazarette, which has plenty of space and houses generator, Inverter, Diesel Heater, Glendenning, etc.
• Access hatch for Engine Room - Just in front of Lazarette, full engine access

Flybridge Features:

• Full Flybridge Enclosure - In Black vinyl and hard Lexan panels. Done April 2015 by Barrett Enclosures
  
• Radar/Lighting Mast - Can fold. Has Radar, KVH Satellite TV Antenna, VHF, lights.
• Settee - L-shaped Settee to Starboard, in white vinyl. Base for a small table.
• Helm Chairs - (2) Helm chairs in white vinyl, with foot rests, adjustable.
• Helm Electronics - See Helm and Flybridge Electronics Section
• Helm Mats - Rubber Stanley mats for comfort while underway.
• Storage / Console Access - Access doors for back of helm, with lots of storage.

Interior Description and Features

Description:

• The forwardmost compartment is a chain locker with deck access. A stateroom follows which has an island double berth, cabinets and drawers, and a starboard side door to a head compartment with stall shower. A passage follows and has a starboard stateroom with twin single berths and lockers and drawers, and a port side head compartment with stall shower. A “U” shaped galley follows to port followed by steps up to the main cabin. The main cabin has a starboard side helm station with double helm seat followed by two armchairs and a side cabinet, and a port side double pilot seat followed by a settee with table. 

  The interior is finished primarily in Cherry, plastic laminates, solid counters, and fabrics, and has storage in the form of drawers, bins, and cabinets.

• 4/2015 - Enclosed fly bridge and back deck. Work done by Barrett Enclosures Inc.  
• 4/2015 - Trolling valves added to transmissions. Work done by MER Equipment Inc. 
• 5/2015 - Cruise Commander computers replaced for both engines and fine tuned trolling valves. Work done by Southeast Diesel & Electric.  
• 7/2015 - Purchased a new set of props for spares.
• 5/2016 - Shaft seals and props replaced. Work done by Southeast Diesel & Electric.   
• 10/2016 - Boat pulled out in Anacortes, WA. Zincs changed. Bottom painted. Winterized. Small piece of wood deck replaced on generator hatch. Work done by Pacific Marine.
• 7/2018 - Servicing done at S3 Maritime in Seattle, WA. Varnish exterior wood, exterior caulking, replacement of transformer, and other work.
