Model HistoryThe 340 Trawler went into production in 2005 and remains in full production today. Mainship offers the 340 as a single stateroom and less expensive alternative to the 400 Trawler but with some unique features.
First, there are no engine hatches in the salon sole or in the cockpit sole.
To isolate engine room noise from the salon, engine room access is beneath the hinged stairs going to the fly bridge. For quiet running, the 340 Trawler is the benchmark for her size. In the engine room, the fuel tank was moved all the way forward against the forward bulkhead, allowing for more open space and outstanding access to all mechanical gear. Modifications over the first 2 years of production have been very minor. In fact, other than the upholstery, it is difficult to tell a 2005 model from a 2007 model.
ConstructionConstruction of these boats use E-glass fiberglass woven roving and polyester resin. The hull is laid up with a solid fiberglass bottom and the hull sides are cored with balsa above the waterline. The superstructure is solid glass with balsa cored decks.
Manufacturer WalkthroughFull swim platform. Step through the transom door to a large covered cockpit. Molded stairs lead to a flybridge which features a large L-shaped lounge to port, a bench seat to starboard, both with ample storage under. Forward at the flybridge is an adjustable pedestal-mounted ultra leather captain's chair, full engine controls, gauges and electronics. Aft on the flybridge, is an open sun deck, with a folding mast storage cradle, vented propane locker and 112 quart Waeco deep freezer.
One enters the salon through double bulkhead doors with retractable insect screen. There is a carpeted main salon sole, padded hull sides and headliner, custom valances, mini blinds and custom furniture. To port is custom cherry end table with an AC/DC refrigerator freezer and a large sofa with storage under. There are twin Rattan chairs, and to starboard is a flat panel Satellite television. Further forward is a Rattan occasional table with wine rack storage under. To port is a breakfast bar with storage under. Forward to Starboard is a custom built cherry storage locker.
Three steps down is a U-shaped galley to port. The galley has plenty of storage including slide out drawers, a tilt-out garbage bin, and bins under the galley sole. A large head is to starboard with access from salon and private access from the owner's stateroom; this includes an acrylic shower stall with molded in seat, VacuFlush head, and Corian counter tops.
Next is the Master Stateroom that includes an island queen berth, cedar lined hanging lockers, and under-berth drawer and storage compartment, flat panel satellite television and AM/FM/CD/DVD player complete the stateroom.
The engine compartment is accessed by lifting the molded fly bridge steps. All maintenance areas are conveniently accessible with plenty of space around the engines and generator.

The addition of under cabinet lighting over the stove and food prep area make "after dark" and "pre-dawn" preparation easier.

Through HullsThe raw water intakes for the main engines, generator and saltwater wash down are all protected by excellent sea strainers at the factory. However, they can still clog especially when transiting areas with heavy grass, and weeds (think canals) or trash (think large city harbors) the best way to prevent damage to raw water pumps and insure that engines, generator or air conditioners donât ever overheat at the worst possible moment, is to prevent debris from entering the sea strainer. This vessel has been equipped with external hull strainers on each of its raw water intakes.
