Condition
She appears in excellent condition. The owner spent four years preparing and outfitting her for a round the world cruise. He completed a one year loop cruise of the Pacific from the NW to CA, Galapagos, Hawaii and Alaska. She is ready for Cruising anywhere.
Propulsion:
She has a Yanmar 4JH3E, 56 hp engine that was original equipment and now has about 2000 hours. The oil has been changed every 100 hours. Fuel consumption is about 0.5 to 0.6 gallons per hour at 1800 rpm. The fuel tank is 85 gallons giving a comfortable motoring range of 500-600 miles (depends on sea conditions). The engine turns an 18-inch three blade Max prop feathering propeller. The original fixed pitch propeller is included as a spare.
The main, genoa, and staysail are Air Force sails. The genoa and main are in good condition, perhaps mid-life. The staysail is in very good condition.
Sails can be put up, taken down, and reefed from the cockpit. The genoa and staysail are on Harken furlers. The main furls into the Charleston mast.
There is a telescoping Forespar whisker pole on a mast track for the genoa and a boom (Hoyt boom) for the staysail allowing good sailing, on a reach or wing-on-wing.
An ATN Gale Sail for storms is included and slides up over the genoa. A North Sails main trysail is also included and slides into the mast track. These are in practically new condition.
Navigation:
A Garmin 4210 chart plotter w/US data card is located on the binnacle and is supported by a GPS17, AIS300, GHP12 autopilot/w remote, GMR HD18 radar, and GSD22 sounder (all Garmin). The radar is wired to a loud alarm in the cabin (works with the sentry function). The chartplotter is repeated on the TV in the salon via a VGA cable.
Wind speed and direction, depth sounder, and speed instruments are Raymarine ST60. The Ray Marine and Garmin instruments communicate and exchange information such as water speed and boat speed. The binnacle compass is a Richie.
There is a Standard Horizon Intrepid VHF radio at the nav station with a Standard Horizon RAM Mic w/full function at binnacle. There is an ICOM M802 Marine SSB with an ICOM AT-140 automatic antenna tuner, GAM antenna, and KISS counterpoise. A USB modem on the HF radio can be plugged into a computer to receive weather fax. The software is included in the sale. The HF radio operates on all frequencies to 30 MHz, including HAM bands. GPS data is sent to each radio via NEMA183 to support the DSC mayday functions. Other communication among instruments is through a NEMA 2000 bus.
Navigation, mast, and steaming lights are LED to minimize electrical use underway.
The extra crew member is a Hydrovane named Wingle. Wingle can handle the steering when there is four to five knots of wind or more, has a great attention span, never gets tired, doesn't use electricity, never argues, and is good company on night watch. There is a cruiser's kit for Wingle containing all the commonly needed spare parts.
Electronics:
Other electronics include a Sony AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth/USB stereo, Bose speakers in the salon and Kenwood speakers in the cockpit. There is a Cobia TV in the salon on a RAM articulating mount (see nav station photo). This allows the TV to be viewed from any angle, including the companionway. When viewed from the companionway, one can see the radar and do night watch under the dodger without going back to the binnacle.
A Bullet WiFi antenna and booster increase the number and quality of hotspots that can be accessed. The antenna signal goes to a router to which any device can connect. This is a great way to get internet when anchored near shore.
There is a satellite antenna (complete IridiumGo fixed installation kit) ready to accept Iridium products. We had this paired with an IridiumGo for phone, texts, email, and weather.
Water and waste:
Fresh water can be made in a 1.5 gal/hr Katadyn watermaker. A dual filter system (with a boost pump) is installed to protect the membrane. The boost pump and second filter can be bypassed. Water is made into a nine-gallon tank, then can be tasted and drained to the170-gallon main water tank. The membrane has been pickled at more frequent intervals than required by the manufacturer. There is a cruiser's kit for the watermaker containing all common spare parts.
The pressurized fresh water has an accumulator to minimize the on/off cycling of the pump and give steady water pressure.
The 45-gallon holding tank is fiberglass. This replaced the original aluminum tank. A macerator pump is provided for overboard discharge as well as a deck pumpout fitting. The head can also be flushed directly overboard where permitted, bypassing the tank.
