Manufacturer Provided Description
The Bertram 390 Convertible is a sport fisherman that combines a deep-V hull with the needs of tournament anglers. The interior of the 390 Convertible can be compared to much larger boats. It was developed to satisfy the sport fisherman, yet deliver the comfort of a cruising boat. The salon - galley - dinette layout is spacious and practical. There is room to relax or entertain in comfort with a full complement of standard features and amenities. The second cabin is unique, with side by side twin berths instead of the more common over and under berths. Unusual for a boat of this size is the elevated cocktail area forward of the dinette, and the possibility of a washer & dryer stack in the companionway. On the practical side, particular attention was paid to the organization and layout of the engine room. The fuel tank was put amidships to minimize the effect of fuel load on trim. It also acts as an effective insulator of noise and engine room heat for the forward cabin area. Careful layout of major components makes maintenance very easy. Even in the unlikely necessity of removing an engine or generator, the 390 has been designed so that this can be done without major surgery to the boat.

Brokers NotesIts what you dont see, however, that lets the 390 earn her namesake. Her 476-gallon fuel tank is immediately forward of her 480-hp Volvo Penta TAMD 74 EDC diesel inboards (with 21/2-inch stainless steel shafts and dripless, water-cooled shaft logs) not only as a sound barrier between the machinery space and the living quarters but also to minimize the effect of changing fuel load on trim. The standard 8-kW Kohler Genset, immediately abaft the engines, is also on the 390s midline, also for reasons of stability. Stability is important because, like every Bertram, the 390 is aimed at serious fishermen who want a long-legged machine that can take them far offshore and get them safely home, no matter what the sea state.
