40' Baja 40 Outlaw High Performance Boats

If you've run offshore in 4- to 6-foot seas, you know this is true: Bigger is mostly better. Measuring 40 feet 6 inches long and 8 feet 6 inches wide, the 40 Outlaw is the largest offering in the Baja Outlaw series of performance boats. For a smooth ride in rough water, the 12,000-pound boat rides on a 24-degree conventional deep-V hull.

Styling is classic offshore. That means a long nose, a low deck, tall hull sides and a deep cockpit. Cockpit accommodations include McLeod bolsters with power drop-out bottoms and a deep bench seat. The helm features backlit (in red) Faria gauges, Kiekhaefer throttles and shifters, and a custom leather-grip steering wheel.

The standard cabin of the 40 Outlaw includes niceties such as a full galley, an enclosed head locker, padded and upholstered lounges, and a V-berth. For those who like their offshore-boat cabins with fewer frills but plenty of attitude, the manufacturer offers a Team Baja cabin-layout package. The race-style-inspired package includes black Simpson ® safety net seats, aluminum support rods and platinum gray, checkerboard-quilted canvas upholstery.

Base power for the 40 Outlaw is a pair of 415-horsepower MerCruiser 502 Magnum MPI engines. Twin 550-horsepower 575SCi engines from Mercury Racing are also offered. For those who prefer triples, the boat can be had with options ranging from a trio of 385-horsepower MerCruiser 454 Magnum MPI motors to three 470-horsepower Mercury Racing 500EFI engines. Fuel capacity (and buyers who order triples will need every ounce of it) is 296 gallons.
