Accommodations
This is one of the most popular designs, allowing a cruising couple to comfortably accomodate guests, without compromising anything. The centerline berth in the bow is the main cabin, and has easy access to the private head and shower. There is ample storage in various lockers and hanging lockers, as well as under the berth. The berth lifts up on gasketed arms, allowing one to store dresses, jackets and suits. There are also two large drawers built into the berth.
The aft cabin is a full-sized double berth, with standing room. There is storage in the lockers and hanging locker, and a vanity that pulls out. The door closes the cabin off completely, giving one complete privacy in the cabin.
The main salon area can be used for accomodating three. The settee to port converts to a fullsize double berth, and the settee opposite is a single.
There is voluminous storage under and behind the seating in the salon, and there are large areas for storage against the hull. All the cushions in the salon are Ultraleather, which is easy to keep clean.
The table folds down and out to seat as many as six, and there is glass and liquor storage in the cabinet against the bulkhead.
All drawers and lockers are cedarlined to reduce mold and mildew. The 16000 BTU Cruiseair Airconditioner keeps the boat cool in summer and warm in winter. There are 7 Hella fans to complement the A/C. All the hatches have Glebe Creek Screens.
Galley The galley is to starboard, as one comes down the companionway from the cockpit. Facing aft is the large fridge and freezer, which has a light and electric drain. Above the fridge/freezer is storage for silverware, plates and glasses. There is also storage in front of the fridge to the side for condiments and spices. There is a long drawer above the engine, as well as a large drawer under the fridge. This all provides substantial storage for any items one may need in the galley. There is also a very large dry-goods locker to the side of the microwave, which is just in front of the stove. The microwave has never been used.. The three burner propane stove is gimballed, and the oven has never been used. There are two stainless steel sinks facing forward, with hot and cold pressurized water. There is also a shower aspray for the sinks, as well as a manual override pump for the water. The overflow indicator for the water tank flows into the sink. There are a couple of storage lockers under the sole in the galley, as well as some storage under the oven. The galley is U shaped, which allows for safe and easy cooking, even in a sea. |
Electronics The electronics on the boat are simple and uncluttered. However, they are of a standard that allow one to go out for a daysail, or even go cruising. - Garmin 128 GPS
- Jensen Stereo
- Autohelm 6000+ Autopilot
- Autohelm Depth
- Autohelm Wind
- ACR 406 EPIRB
- Standard Intrepid VHF with RAM
- Heart Interface 1000 Watt inverter

Electrical There is a 120 Volt and a 12 Volt system on the boat. There is a 30 amp inlet to the boat, which brings power to the various A/C components. These include the A/C unit, battery charger, hot water heater and power outlets. The 12 volt system has a dedicated engine battery, as well as a house bank. The AGM batteries were replaced and were new in 2004. The 1000 Watt inverter is also a battery charger. |
Sails The sailplan of this boat is simple and easy to use. The main is inmast furling, and the genoa and staysail are all on roller furlers. The staysail, which has hardly been used, is on a Hoyt Boom, which keeps the sails shape, and is self tacking. All the lines and controls for the sails are lead into the cockpit. |
Deck The deck is wide is easy to move around. The bulwarks give one a sense of security, and the stanchions and lifelines are high and solid. There are grabrails on both sides of the boat, and are easily accessed. There are three dorades, which give the boat ventilation, even when the hatches are closed. There is an entrance gate on each side of the cockpit, with a step which has a recess for any lines that can be tucked under the step. There are two pushpit seats, as well as a helmsman's seat. The cockpit itself can seat another six people. There is a cooler in the seat to starboard in the cockpit, which allows one to keep ice and drinks for the day handy. The lines on this boat are stored in line bags which are hung against the forward facing heads of the cockpit. The bimini/dodger offers protection against the elements, and there are numerous bars and handles to hold onto. All lines and controls are led into the cockpit, and there is a windlass control on the pedestal. The pulpit has two anchors, a 35 lbs Delta and a Danforth #25. The Delta has 100 ft of chain and 150 feet of nylon. The Danforth has 40 feet of chain and 200 feet of nylon. There is an electric Lofrans windlass for the groundtackle. There are Kato davits off the pushpit. The propane locker is on the deck, to starboard, and breathes overboard. The starboard lazarrete is the larger of the two, and houses some of the 12 volt equipment. There is room in either lazarrette for a generator, and substantial storage for almost anything one could want. All the wood topsides has been varnished with Epifanes high gloss varnish, and is in excellent condition. |
Engine The Yanmar engine has a stand-alone reputation, and this particular has very low hours. It has been regularly maintained, and is exceptionally clean. There is a Balmar high output alternator, as well as a regulator. The engine access is particularly good, as the front and two sides open up. On the starboard side there is a door that opens up and holds the Racor fuel/water separator and an electric pump. This makes bleeding the engine very easy, and relatively troublefree. The 50 HP is more than sufficient to move the boat, even in areas where there are strong currents. |
