Construction
Hull 8mm thick steel under water line, protected by epoxy coating, 5mm thick above the water line, 5 mm thick non-skid decks, Epoxy protected. All areas inside the hull epoxy tar coated. Long Keel construction with 25mm plate and 12 tons lead internal ballast. Substantial stainless-steel safety rails, samson post, bollards and solid stainless-steel bar around all hatch openings. Solid stainless-steel toe rails. Skeg, and rudder shaft tube are substantial steel. Steel yachts run the gamut as far as quality of construction. This yacht is without compromise in that department. The caliber of construction and the degree of preventative measure taken to assure this vessel remains a proper, sound, and safe yacht are excellent, and shall impress most anyone seriously considering purchasing a steel yacht of this stature.
Accommodations
Sleeps 6 in 3 double cabins. Two saloons. Two heads with shower. Full array of Nav./Com instruments at the lower/inside helm, Pedestal steering in cockpit. The forward accommodation is comprised of two comfortable double cabins. The forward cabin with lower bunk and single upper bunk, shelves and lockers and separate steps through hatch leading to deck. Large guest cabin to port with a double berth athwartships. Drawers and cupboards. Large opening hatch. Ample lighting, and 12 volt plus 120-volt outlets. Spacious washroom with hand basin, full size showers and head. Traditionally fitted lower saloon, with cushioned seating for 6 around a large teak dining table, sideboard, and drinks bar to port.
Full headroom galley amidships. Twin s/s sinks and large work areas. Electric stove with four burners and oven. 800-watt Microwave oven. Large fridge with holding plate. Ample cupboards and drawers containing cups, glasses, plates, and utensils. A large walk in storeroom/wine cellar situated just above the keel with steps down. There is a laundry with Candy automatic washing machine.
Steps lead up to the deck saloon/pilot house, which has large windows allowing for unrestricted all-round visibility. It features the navigation station, wheel and helmsman's seat to starboard, and to port there is seating for six, a coffee table and an entertainment system which consists of updated LCD TV’s, stereo, and satellite receiver.
Steps to port lead down from starboard side forward to the Engine Room and aft to the full width Master Stateroom, which has a centerline Queen-size bed, hanging lockers, drawers, large shelves. Two large opening hatches, eight opening portholes with mosquito nets provide fresh air ventilation. Ample lighting, TV socket, and 12 volt, plus 120-volt outlets. A spacious en suite washroom with wash basin, head, extractor fan, including 12 volt and 230-volt outlets. Full size shower compartment. This master cabin offers exceptional headroom, storage, and privacy, and is of a size usually found on much larger vessels.
Aft sundeck with deck seating and bathing platform with shower on stern. Spacious walk-in lazarette full beam of the yacht with large steel hatch, spacious storage selves, and lighting.
Engines
Twin Ford/Lees Marine/Lehman 90 hp each - naturally aspirated diesel engines with two three-blade propellers on stainless steel shafts. Maximum speed up to 10 knots. Range under one engine - 2,500 nautical miles @ approx. 7 knots.
Steering: rudder on skeg, with roller chains and layshaft control from two helms. Air compressor with tank, and lengthy air pipes and fittings. Spare parts for engines, generator, and miscellaneous items. Various tools and tool boxes.
The machinery space aboard FREEDOM is well engineered with all systems and components accessible for service. Most if not all systems are redundant with backups.
Tanks
Water - 600 US gallons in two steel tanks. Diesel - 400 US gallons in one steel tank. Grey water holding tank and macerator pump. Two fresh water pressure pumps. Hot water tank with electric immersion heater.
Workshop
Located in engine room; workshop with work bench, vice, tool storage cupboard, large storage shelves, numerous tools, lighting, 12 volt, and 120-volt outlets.
Electronics
Garmin GPS map 1040xs . Nexus Instruments (2002) Apelco VHF; Standard hand held VHF: ICOM SSB HF all-band transceiver. Inmarsat satellite communications system: Mini M Satcom with 4 lines: - phone, fax, e-mail, and data. Furuno Dfax 207 weather fax. 12-volt Stereo system.
Electrical
Northern Lights 12.5 KW generator (3600 hrs), and 3kW generator. Inverter. Shore power system. 12-volt house, and engine battery systems. Separate 12-volt Generator battery. Two 12-volt, 50-amp engine alternators. Two 12-volt, 50-amp prop shaft alternators for battery charging under sail. Alternator charge controller at upper Helm station. High capacity battery charger.
Mast, Sails, and Rigging
Silver anodized aluminum mast stepped on the keel. Masthead rigged with two pairs of spreaders. 20 cm (1") thick steel chain plates welded through deck. Mainsail slab reefing, reefing lines and winches, lazy jacks. Zip up sail bag, new March 2000. Ronstan s/s turnbuckles, etc. Furlex head sail and staysail. Mainsail, Genoa and Staysail. One headsail whisker pole with topping lifts. Mainsail cover. Mechanical boom vang. 6 Arco winches. Spray hood. Sun awnings. Although a relatively large vessel, all sail handling systems / rigging are specifically designed for ease of operation and is no more involved than sailing a forty-footer. The owner and his wife have sailed this boat Trans-Atlantic, just the two of them.

Weather decks of 5mm steel, painted with non-skid finish to horizontal areas. Rigid steel Davits with blocks. Electric Windlass. Tall stainless-steel rails and stanchions, with two gates. Granny bars on both sides of the mast. 2 x Staysail tracks with 2 x adjustable sheet blocks. Two dorade vents. Rainwater catchment on decks with fresh water fillers in wells to port and starboard.
