Living space, ample headroom and privacy are all very important considerations on the O'Day 302.

When it's time to get out of the fresh air an settle down with friends and family for a bit of refreshment or relaxation, the interior of the O'Day 302 comes alive. You'll readily appreciate the bright, airy and spacious feel of this very modern arrangement - with more living room than on convential 30-footers. One reason is the aft head location allowing more functional use of space in the mid-part of the boat.

The galley, where work space is important, is located at the point where the boat's beam is at it's widest. This increases the counter surfaces and allows for the greatest amount of space for stores and cooking utensils. Placement of the galley near the maximum beam also gives the cook more foot room which means more comfort that smaller, cramped layouts. The chart table across from the stove concels the heavily insulated four cubic foot ice chest. A two-burner propane range and oven provides plenty of cooking power for a hungry crew.

In the main cabin there are two facing settees - one six feet in length ahead of the galley and a seven footer to starboard. There are two separate fully enclosed staterooms at opposite ends of the boat for maximum privacy for two couples.

Storage space is generous throughout. There's a hanging locker and storage drawers aft, two large drawers forward, and aircraft-styled lockers hung under the deck amidship. Additionally, there is plentiful storage in the galley area: dish racks, lockers, drawers and even a hidden trash bin in the counter top.

Below decks, the 302 is a blend of contemporary styling, colors, and finish skilfully combined with the traditional. The dominant tone is light grey, tastefully accented by teak joinery. The teak and holly main cabin sole is varnished to a warm lustre. The light grey fabric headliner adds a warm feeling while reducing noise and condensation. The boat is brightly illuminated by very large smoked plexiglass ports. The ports extend onto the coachroof aft and serve as skylights over the aft stateroom and head. Ventilation is provided by 3 hatches and 4 opening ports.

The coachroof sweeps smoothly from the foredeck, giving standing headroom throughout the main cabin, head, and in the aft cabin so you can stand while dressing.
