54' Custom Gaff Rigged Schooner '84 "Frank Edmund"

RECENT $50,000 PRICE REDUCTION

The FRANK EDMUND is a replica of a late 1700's/early 1800's Gloucester fishing schooner. It is a full displacement hull and all running rigging is traditional of that period. Built by the owner, a shipwright since 1957, over a span of 21 years. The keel was laid in 1984, and she was splashed in 2005. The bow sprit, masts, and booms were built by Bill Clarke, a San Diego boat builder. Her hull is cold molded of 7 layers of 3/8" plywood, fiberglassed completely on the exterior, and fiberglassed to the waterline on the interior. The drive unit is hydraulic, and the main engine is mounted in a transverse position on the portside in the salon inside an insulated box to reduce noise. The generator is mounted similarly on the starboard side. Bow and stern thrusters make her quite maneuverable. The rigging is stainless wire, and the masts are tabernacled. There is a davit system on the stern with a rowing dinghy. Much of the hardware on the boat is custom bronze, and polished to a high gloss. She has sailed from San Francisco Bay to San Diego with many enjoyable hours of sailing.

All offers considered.
