Accommodations
More spacious interior than many 28' or 30' vessels, the Island Packet 26' sleeps 4 in two cabins.
Fwd cabin provides 5'7" headroom and a 6'2" v-berth that sleeps 2. Anchor locker can be accessed at the forepeak via a door and further storage is below the berth and in a small hullside hammock. Just aft and to port is an open hanging locker. Light and ventilation pour through an overhead hatch and an opening cabin port above the hanging locker.
Aft to stbd is the fully enclosed head with Lavac manual salt water MSD. MSD is plumbed to a holding tank with Y-valve system. Single basin stainless sink provides fresh water with a manual pump. Storage is behind a louvered cabinet door below the sink and on a fiddled shelf outboard above the head. Opening cabin port above the head provides light and ventilation.
The main salon offers 6'2" headroom with a 6'4" settee to port and a 6'6" settee to stbd. Bulkhead mounted table folds up out of the way when not in use. Leaf extension provides seating for 4-6 at mealtime. All 4 cabin ports open to create a nice cross breeze when at anchor. Storage is below settees, behind the settee seatbacks, and on fiddled shelves along the hullsides to port and stbd.
Galley is conveniently located aft, just to port of the companionway, allowing easy access from the cockpit. Single basin stainless sink provides fresh water via a brand new brass hand pump, next to an Origo 4000 2-burner alcohol stove. Formica extension flips up for additional counter space. Opening cabin port above the stove allows for ventilation while cooking. Storage is behind 2 louvered cabinet doors below the counter, behind hullside sliders, and in a pull-out drawer in the aft bulkhead. Ice box with shelf is across and to stbd behind a large door in the aft bulkhead.
Up the steps through the companionway is the cockpit with 7'3" settees to port and stbd. Plenty of room to squeeze a large crew within the tall, safe coamings, or stretch out to nap under the sun or stars. Storage is below both settees. New green canvas dodger deflects spray when underway.
