In terms of styling,the 44 motor cruiser marked Gulfstars entry into the modern motor yacht market when she was introduced in 1978.Looks are deceiving,while she has a genuine motor yacht look,she is actually built on a full-displacement trawler type hull,with a deep keel and relatively flat after sections. inside the floorplan is arranged with the galley down and a notably spacious master stateroom aft. The salon has a lower helm and deck access door to starboard. A ladder leads down into the 44's stand-up engine room,and a pump room forward seperates the generator and air condtioning units from the motors.Twin 130hp Perkins diesels were standard.At her hull speed of 8.5 Knots she will burn 5-6 gph. The 44 has a range of about 700 miles.This model was produced for 3 years,and there popularity led to 105 being built.
