Manufacturer Provided Description
The Bertram 58 Convertible is quiet and amazingly controllable: a deft, lively communion between ship and sea. The bridge is more than a high visibility control center. It's an enormous party platform - as big as some dance floors. The 168-square-foot cockpit can hold two fighting chairs and a prep center and still have running-around room for a couple of mates. Her twin turbo-charged diesels provide top speeds of 26 miles an hour, comfortable cruising at 22 miles an hour, and a cruising range of 500 miles with standard 1300-gallon tanks. Obviously, this is a luxury cruiser. The spaciousness, the abundance of mellow teak, the valanced cathode lighting, the soft thickness of deep pile carpeting, the trim fit of custom draperies, the recessed color television, stereo - all is designed to allow maximum warmth, style, and space. The choice of furnishings and fabrics is virtually unlimited through Bertram's custom interior services. The salon has plenty of room for a convertible sofa and extra sleeping space. It's furnished with several lounge chairs, a cocktail and dining table or a full dinette, and a wetbar with an ice maker, sink and wine storage. The galley is a sunny, open expanse of teak and butcher-block counter space. Standard equipment includes a dishwasher, a double stainless steel sink, an oven with a rotisserie, a four-burner stove, and a two-door upright refrigerator and freezer with an automatic ice maker. There's plenty of cabinet space and a handsome vinyl tile floor. Twelve can sit for dinner. The 58 Convertible sleeps up to eight people with four cabins and three private bathrooms with showers. The master stateroom features a queen-size bed with walk-around room (or optional twin berths), two wardrobe lockers, drawers in the nightstand and under the bed, and the niceties of shoji screens over the portlights, even a telephone jack. The master bath is equally elegant, with an extra large shower, marbleized vanity, and full-length mirror on the door. Both the guest and forward staterooms sleep two in each on extra thick foam mattresses, both with private access to complete bathrooms, and both with hanging lockers and stowage. A ladder in the forward stateroom provides easy access to the deck above. Below, there's an engine room that's a model of function. It's open on both sides of the huge engines with stand-up headroom, so even the grouchiest mechanic works better. There is access from either cockpit or companionway. Wiring systems are neat, compact and color-coded. All through-hull fittings and fasteners are silica bronze. The 58 Convertible also has spring-loaded rubber mounting devices, baffles on the air intakes, three different kinds of insulation, generators placed well away from sleeping quarters - everything to make the Bertram as quiet and functional as can be. The custom aluminum fuel tanks are even positioned to keep the weight as low as possible for the best balance. The bridge on the 58 Convertible is simply enormous. It can seat nine people plus the captain and still have room for the optional aft controls and a complete wetbar with an ice maker, refrigerator, sink and storage. The helmsman seat is centered, with excellent docking visibility and everything on the control panel within easy reach. The large cockpit has stowage lockers port and starboard and padding along the coaming. There's also a six-foot fish box. The deep-V hull is structured from high-impact, immaculately hand-laid fiberglass with the color bonded right into the gelcoat, so that maintenance is minimal. There is even a sand-frosted bottom, so every coat of antifouling paint applied gets a better grip.
