33' SANTA CRUZ '78

"I-5"

"This boat was designed by Bill Lee to be a "fast is fun" IOR one-ton racer.  There were a little over a dozen built, so they have been a unique family racer cruiser ever since first launched.  They have stand up head room for most adults and a varnished Brunzeel interior that set them apart from the later evolution of cold plastic sport boat interiors.  They tend to be held by their owners long term as they are very easy to sail and represent a lot of speed for the dollar invested.  A clear and classic example of what the Santa Cruz revolution was all about."

From the bow forepeak clear with line hanging rails.   Next aft to starboard head with holding tank, to port lavatory with stainless steel sink.   Head has electric pump to drain overboard.   Manual Bilge pump mounted on the bulkhead.    A canvas curtain separates the head from the main cabin area.  Next aft of main bulkhead is the main cabin area.   To the port side pilot berth with seat back rest.   Fuel tanks and batteries under.    To starboard pilot berth with seat back rest.  Water tank and anchor storage under.   Stainless steel grab rails above mounted on interior of cabin sides.     Table with fold down sides mounted on the cabin sole and attached to the mast.  (table currently not on the boat)  Next aft to starboard is the galley with single stainless steel sink and hand fresh water pump.   Small single burner propane camp stove on a gimble.   Storage behind and under counter.  AC electric panel on bulkhead to port nav station with ice box under.   12 volt DC elec. panel on bulkhead.   To port mounted under deck is the chart plotter.   Storage under nav station seat.     Engine is located in the middle of the boat in a wood engine cover with companionway ladder over. Next aft is an under cockpit double berth that spans the whole beam of the boat.  Storage under cushion bases w/access to propeller shaft. Interior wood work is varnished Brunzeel African hardwood.  Upholstered cushions are covered with a light tan Sunberella Fabric.
