VESSEL INFORMATION
1976 MARINE TRADER 34 PILOT HOUSE SEDAN
This Marin Trader 34 Sedan is a rare find on today's trawler market. One of about 10 ever built, the 34' Marine Trader Pilot House Sedan Trawler offers a larger interior than other 34' Marine Traders because it's salon occupies the entire width of the vessel.
Sliding doors from the pilot house lead to a foredeck walk-around with a sun deck filling the bow above the V-berth. There is a 2nd spacious sun deck that fills the footprint of the salon below. The forward private cabin has a V-berth and private head with shower. The galley is just aft of the stairs to the pilot house and easily services the dining area in the salon. The salon features a pull out day/night double bed in the starboard settee and the port lounge/dining area converts easily to sleep two. A second head with shower is on starboard just forward of this settee/day bed. Also, there is a custom-built, full-sized nav. station located in the pilot house. It has a full-size chart table, chart drawer, an inset allotted to tuck in a chair and lockers to either side.
If you are looking for a great live-aboard cruiser, or just a weekend getaway trawler, look no further. A singIe-screw is the means to fuel economy, burning only 2 gallons of diesel per hour, and the vessel can cruise at 6-8 knots. This popular style trawler has a 120 hp Lehman inboard diesel engine and a Vetus bow thruster. The bow thruster makes maneuvering in marinas a snap! Having a windless installed makes setting and lifting the anchor a snap too- eliminating the struggle, frustration, and perhaps some arguing otherwise common to the task! Additionally, the windlass has a plug-in remote, so it can be operated alone or with the assistance of others from the bow-offering improved visibility for accurate placement of the anchor. For ease of piloting the vessel and for your viewing pleasure, there are twin steering stations-one in the pilot house and one on the bridge. Additionally, for your added viewing pleasure, the are 2 large sun decks for lounging; one found fore of the pilot house and one found aft of the bridge on the upper deck.
In this trawler, a marine HVAC system was installed. Also, a 3.5 kw Onan generator was installed. In 2011, a 3-ton, split system, reverse-cycle HVAC system was installed because it provides an increase in HVAC power and it provides a full temperature range of operation for setting the desired temperature-no longer is the temperature setting limited by the ambient water temperature. This system far exceeds the capability of (sea/fresh) water-based marine HVAC system .
This vesseI has a full galley with stainless steel sink, a propane fueled marine 4-burner stovetop and vent, refrigerator, lockers and drawers. Solid teak is rare and it is certainly costly nowadays. The interior teak is well cared for throughout the vessel. The solid (not veneered!) teak parquet floors are exceptional. The exterior teak is in excellent condition and the refinishing of it is in-progress.
This classy 34' double-cabin Marine Trader was designed by Ed Monk and it is
unquestionably the most popular trawler yacht of this size ever sold in the U.S. The boat design has remained essentially unchanged for 30+ years, and is a lasting testament to the functionality and timelessness of the styling and features.
This is the boat that immediately pops to mind when most of us hear the word, "trawler yacht." The Marine Trader 34' is a proven design capable of the Great Loop as well as coastal and limited off hare cruising. Her layout is well-designed and compact with all the right amenities for Iong-range cruising or weekend getaways. She is a fine example of the model and she awaits new owners to take her to a new port of call.
