Construction
Mirage's "one piece fiberglass hull is all hand laminated to ensure maximum uniform strength. The SOLID CAST LEAD BALLAST IS GLASSED INSIDE THE KEEL AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE BOAT. Sandwich deck construction assures rigidity with minimum weight, while providing insulation. Bulkheads are floating, rather than structural, to prevent fatigue and stress points in the hull. What makes Mirage different is the original owner went a step further by:
- "The wiring, plumbing, lightening protection, sea-cock installation, size of sea-cocks for rapid cockpit drain, etc are all installed in accord with "American Boat and Yacht Council Standards"... These standards reflect the best yacht construction practice" (at the time when the yacht was built).
- "The fuel tank is laid up with "Hooker Hetron" fire retardant resin...
- The transom was substantially reinforced in way of the back stay.
- The hull was substantially reinforced in the way of the chain-plates.
- The rudder support structure was reinforced probably to the point of overkill..

Accommodations Mirage is a well fitted classic yacht with a very practical sailboat layout that provides plenty of storage and ample creature comforts. As you descend the companionway there is the galley on port side:

Forward is the saloon with port and starboard settees. Both settees are full length and can sleep an adult. The saloon table folds down from the forward bulked thus the saloon has an open layout when it is not in use. Other features include:
