Vessel was purchase in 2002 with intention to fully restore MV Full Step for long term cruising.
This wonderful boat was hauled out and prepared for the interior & mechanical restoration process by the sellers.
Engine and genset purchased new in 2002, installed and splashed back in the water in 2005 for its first trip to the Chesapeake.
Sellers have enjoyed several years cruising Maryland to Florida.
July 2009 was the last haulout and bottom paint.
This very special DeFever 40 , American built motor vessel, has been in Central Florida for 2 years as sellers have move ashore.
Recently serviced May/June 2014, this boat is now on the market. The interior indeed shows in near new condition without exaggeration.
MV Full Step eagerly awaits a new owner to continue the cruising adventures she was designed for.
Defever Trawler American BuiltFull Step" is an Authur De Fever designed trawler built by Jensen Marine in the mid '70's in Costa Mesa CA.
Unlike the trawler style boats built during this period in Taiwan, including other DeFever designs, Jensen built the entire boat in production female molds.
There is no plywood deck or plywood and glass covered cabin sides. The only exterior teak is the cap rail.
Deck non-skip is molded - never had teak decks.
Jensen built 132 boats from the tooling - Full Step is number 105.
DescriptionThe Defever 40 offers a large main salon, extremely clean and bright, with galley up and 6'6" head room. MV Full Step features added custom lockers.
The upper helm station was replaced with a DeFever Down East 40 flybridge, as a custom refit to the DeFever "MV Full Step". Extra storage ,new nav panel and bimini was added and completed 2005.
Every detail was tended to during this restoration. The impeccable history of the restoration involved tedious work by owners and professional craftsman throughout all phases of the refit. This is more than an average refit.
Loving and skilled labor evolved into the creation of this newly rebuilt vessel.
This was not a backyard project....
Machine tooled components, engineered designs, naval architect custom designs, custom vents, custom access panels, hatches , custom cabinets ,lockers and drawers...and so much more .....All new!
Aft cabin, forward V berth, 2 heads and superior storage and vents....All new!
Aft master cabin with ensuite head and shower stall. Electro Scan... All new!
Forward cabin V berth has a manual head w/hand shower....also new!
A few recently installed items...new Air conditioning throughout, new ports and new custom windows, custom hatches with screens. Access openings throughout interior for total viewing of bulkhead and components as needed.
Vessel was prepped for total restoration between 2002 - completed 2005.
MV Full Step splashed in 2005 .
Only 900+ hours on the engine - recently serviced May/June 2014 .
All electrical systems, mechanical, plumbing,hoses etc installed new .
May/June 2014 Final Marine Electrical Inspection and upper helm station wiring completed.
Vessel has been serviced, and ready for survey.
Vessel needs upper helm station cushions and paint.

Letter from Arthur De Fever A letter was written to Mr. A. De Fever by the current owners .
The sellers had a question of the DeFever Passagemaker 40 built by Jensen Marine regarding cabin sides and decks built of wood plywood.
MV Full Step is a fiberglass boat with the deck in one piece and clearly laid up in a female mold. This makes her a very special boat .
Mr. De Fever's hand written reply:
