Hull and Decks
The Swan 48 is built with a solid hand laid-up fiberglass hull with reinforcing stringers that are foam-filled. The lead fin keel is bolted on. The rudder is mounted on a full skeg. The deck is fiberglass, foam cored with a teak overlay.

Rigging Curandera has the standard Nautor silver-anodized aluminum rig, keel-stepped, with double spreaders and a single-point chainplate system. There is an adjustable inner forestay. The standing rigging is discontinuous 1x19 stainless steel wire with Norseman terminals. New main, jib and spinnaker halyards in 2012; rigging serviced and tuned in 2012.
Boom stripped, sanded, primed, painted (2012). Preventer tackle and lazy-jacks. (3) Internal lines for the outhaul, 1st reef and 2nd reef that are all led to the winches adjacent to the spar itself. There are lock-off cams at the gooseneck for the (3) internal lines.
The spar vang attachment and gooseneck assemblies are of a well-engineered, heavy-duty construction that effectively corrects an inherent weakness in the older Swan designs "as built" (rebuilt in 2003).

Layout The Swan 48 has a (2) stateroom layout. There is an aft cabin with both single and double berths, which, with the custom wood-crafted v-section, may be converted to a large, queen berth; (2) settee and (2) sea/pilot berths in the main salon and (2) berths in the fore cabin that raise up to allow access to the storage underneath. The galley is aft on the port side. There are (2) heads; (1) is forward on the port side just abaft the fore cabin and opposite (2) large hanging lockers and (1) is located on the port side and is ensuite with the aft cabin. The navigation station is to starboard at the base of the companionway steps.
Accommodations Curandera has the standard Swan 48 interior layout. She is finished with the traditional Nautor satin varnish finish applied over the blond Kota wood (native to Finland) for Swan's of this vintage for the bulkheads and most of the joinery. The gloss varnished teak trim nicely highlights the Kota wood appearance that materially lightens the interior. There are varnished teak ceilings and a satin varnished teak teak and holly cabin sole (replaced in 1994) throughout.

There is a custom teak chart stowage rack mounted over the sea-berth, port side. The main salon table was custom-built in the mid-1990's, teak with double folding leaves. The starboard side has an extra large unit to to comfortably sit guests on the starboard settee while dining,

- Leecloths for main salon berths, leeboards for the aft cabin berths, and custom mesh leecloths for the forward berths.
Well crafted v-section of cabinetry which can turn the two aft berths into a single, large, queen sized berth.
Galley The galley is located on the port side at the base of the companionway steps, it is L-shaped and is equipped with:
- Hillerange (3) burner stove with oven, stainless steel, gimbaled, propane
- Galley safety bar, stainless steel with harness
- Hot and cold pressure water system
- Fresh water and salt water service at the galley sink (operated by foot-pumps)
- Xintec Fireboy S-2A propane/CNG fume detector
- Seaward electric shut-off switch, 12 VDC, for the gas system
- Hanging stainless steel propane cooker
- Exhaust fan
