Accommodations
Vessel sleeps four in two cabins: a forward cabin with a V berth, and a separate aft cabin with single berths port & starboard. The forward berth is a showcase of custom joinery throughout, with teak ceilings, crown mouldings and inlaid panels highlighted with brass hardware, reading lights, and drawer pulls. Aft to port is the master Head with shower, featuring an electric flush toilet and custom teak vanity with a beautiful hand-crafted teak sink finished in satin sheen varnish. To starboard is the Galley which runs amidships all the way back to the Pilothouse bulkhead.
The main salon is to port done in African Mahogany with a high gloss varnish. The center table is semicircular, with center storage and double drop leafs with a raised rim. A circular settee with ultraleather cushions, brass reading lights, Sony AM/FM/CD 4 speaker Stereo, and custom cabinets and bookcases create a very rich and elegant space, which is further enhanced by the teak parquet sole throughout.
The aft stateroom has it's own separate entrance from the Pilothouse deck, and contains single bunks port and starboard, separated by a bureau with brass wash basin and fixtures. This stateroom contains an ensuite head compartment with a stunning curved corner door of inlaid teak panels finished in high gloss varnish. The interior of the head compartment is finished in satin sheen. A large closet is opposite the head.
Galley
The Galley leaves nothing for want! It is very spacious and fully featured, and runs down the entire starboard side of the main salon. A sparkling white corian counter top and sink sit atop a custom cabinet, full of storage space. Behind wicker-ventilated doors is more ample cupboard space. On the forward bulkhead are mounted a gold-plated barometer and ship's clock. Next aft is a two-burner Force 10 propane stove with oven, followed by an upright refrigerator/freezer which can run on 110V, 12V, or propane. The propane system is well-installed and includes a Xintex Solinoid and gas sniffer.
Pilothouse and Electronics
The roomy Pilothouse is up three steps from the main salon, and is enclosed on three sides with a teak house with solid glassed overhead. The center window and side windows open for ventilation. There are cushions for the cockpit seats. Wheel steering is on the centerline, and is a direct drive worm gear assembly. The following equipment is flush-mounted at the helm station:
- Furuno Radar
- Simrad CE32 GPS Chartplotter
- Icom ICM59 VHF Radio
- Datamarine Wind Instrument
- Robertson AP300X Autopilot
- Danforth Constellation hexagonal Brass-mounted compass
Sails & RiggingLADY KATE may well be considered a center cockpit sailboat with a hard dodger, rather than a "motorsailer", for much attention has been placed by Mr. Moser on improving her sailing performance. She has a mast head sloop rig with a new Harken roller furler and a new self tending jib sheeted through a radiused foredeck traveler led aft to the pilothouse. The full battened main is also new, as is the Leisure-furl boom. The fore stay and double back stays are new, and the mast has been newly awlgripped. Sail handling is fully controlled from the Pilothouse and is simplified with an electric Harken self-tailing two speed bronze winch on port, and a restored original two speed manual Gibb winch on starboard. All running rigging is new.
Mechanical & ElectricalThe Perkins diesel was removed from the vessel during restoration and fully remanufactured, including new pistons, and rebuilt transmission. A Swedish Aquadrive system was installed with a new 1 1/8" stainless steel shaft, spurs, and 3-blade 24" fixed prop. The wiring throughout the boat is all new. All through-hulls were replaced with new Bronze Spartans. The following additional equipment is all newly installed:
- Side Power Bow Thruster
- 17,000 BTU Espar central heat
- 35 amp Shore power w/ two 50' cords
- Stainless steel water heater
- Newmar battery charger
- Two electric & one manual bilge pumps
Hull & DeckThe Hull and Deck are solid hand-laid fiberglass. The hull was surveyed, declared sound and free of osmotic blisters, sanded, prepped, and awlgripped flag blue. An all new teak deck was applied topside, along with many unique woodworking features by Mr. Moser such as the beautiful inlaid compass rose on an aft hatch cover which consists of 28 types of different wood.
- 12 V. Ideal Anchor Windlass
- 45 Lb. CQR storm anchor & rode
- 35 Lb. Fortress & rode
- Anchor/Deck washdown pump
- Fenders, lines, CG safety equipment
AdditionalLADY KATE is virtually a brand new yacht inside and out. Every mechanical system, every fitting, every port, has been either replaced new or totally rebuilt, restored and/or rebedded. All standing rigging, running rigging, and sails have been similarly addressed. In addition to his own personal craftsmanship, Mr. Moser has used some of the finest craftsmen in the Maine boating industry in this restoration, and has retained many of the original brass fittings and hardware where appropriate to create a very unique and handsome yacht.
