Accommodations
"Ariel" is a custom version of the Plan C optional interior layout of the very popular Tartan 40'. The significant differences are a larger/longer v-berth in the forward cabin, a pilot berth on starboard in the main salon and a bookshelf on the forward port bulkhead.
The forward cabin custom v-berth is 7' long with a split mattress. There is ample storage in four drawers, a hanging locker and shelves port and starboard. A large overhead hatch and two ports provide ventilation and light. Storage, batteries and water tank is under the berth.
The forward head has vanity, sink, storage and handheld shower w/H&C pressure water. A bifold door on both the forward cabin and head affords privacy. Opposite the head is a large hanging locket.
The main salon includes a U-shaped settee to port with an extra width double drop leaf centerline table on a swivel pedestal. The custom bookshelf is on the forward bulkhead. To starboard a full-length settee with a pilot berth above provides two berths in addition to the two in each cabin and the two on the convertible port settee. Cabinets and lockers behind the settees afford plenty of storage. A "Paul Luke" soapstone sided fireplace is mounted on the starboard fwd bulkhead, vented through the coachroof/deck. The interior upholstery is powder blue Ultra Suede in excellent condition. The teak trim, handrails, dining table and cabin sole are varnished. All other interior teak is in excellent condition, oiled and well maintained.
An entertainment center is in the main salon, including a Panasonic color TV, Sony stereo CD with interior and cockpit speakers and a liquor locker.
The L-shaped galley is to port with the nav station aft.
Opposite of the galley is a second head, integrated into the private aft cabin. The cabin is a double berth, small seat, hanging locker, three drawers and shelves.
The engine is under the companionway ladder, with an easily removed cover affording excellent access.
A hinged, varnished, solid teak, locking companionway door provides security and custom appearance. Teak companionway boards are also available.
