MORE SPACE. MORE POSSIBILITIES. THE HANSE 455.
This yacht has it all: a cleverly sized interior provides a great living experience. A variety of optional cabin versions allows the perfect layout for crew and guests. And from the uniquely large cockpit, the sun, and sea can be enjoyed magnificently while enjoying calm cruising.
EVERYTHING IN HAND, EVERYTHING IN YOUR SIGHTS. You will be surprised. You can sail this yacht single handed, whenever you like. Setting, hauling in, shortening and trimming the 103 m² sails can be carried out comfortably and directly from the helmsman position. From there you will have a complete overview at all times. At HANSE, we call that "Easy Sailing". Once you have experienced it you may never want to sail without it again!
Hull and DeckDesigned by Judel/Vrolijk and Co, the Hanse 455 is very much a performance yacht with comfortable cruising arrangement. The squared off bow and transom are a pleasing trademark of the Hanse brand and they lend themselves to long waterline and fast sailing.
With 5' 8" cast iron L shaped shallow draft keel, she will sail to weather at 7+ knots and offwind in the 8's and 9's.
Her hull is foam cored laminate with a vinylester outer layer to resist blistering. A structural fiberglass grid is tabbed in place to carry the boatâs keel and rig loads. Bulkheads are also tabbed in place to stiffen the hull, and the deck is balsa-cored to help lower the boatâs center of gravity. Longitudinal stringers are visible in the anchor locker (and elsewhere) and show quality fiberglass work.
The deck is uncluttered with all lines from the deck-stepped mast leading back to the cockpit in covered troughs. Elegant and simple. The Selden aluminum mast is slightly franctional to allow clearance for A-sails. Standing rigging is wire.
At the bow, there is a stainless Ultra anchor in a bow roller handled by an electric Quick windlass, with up and down foot switches.
There is a massive anchor locker containing chain storage, plenty of room for fenders, lines, sails and toys.
There is wonderful lounging space on deck and the wide side decks make walking back to the cockpit easy. The decks are covered with synthetic teak.
The dodger provides protection over the companionway and the forward portion of the cockpit. The sizable cockpit table provides a secure hold while sailing, a peaceful dining table while at rest, and includes an icebox cooler inside.
Twin wheels (steering a single rudder) provide open centerline access to the amazing transom swim platform. The simple up / down function is by hand with the assistance of gas pistons. Simple. The platform is the preferred spot for dinghy boarding, swimming or dangling your feet in the water.
B&G electronics (Performance package) at both helms provide chart plotter, autopilot and sailing instruments on boat sides of the cockpit. A sailors delight.
InteriorThe interior of Vahevala is stunning and functional. This is the A1, B2, C2 arrangement.
All the way forward is the owner's stateroom featuring an island queen berth with easy side entry. Hull portlights and opening overhead hatch allow light and ventilation at anchor. There is overhead recessed lighting as well as individual reading lights.
The owners' head compartment is to port while the separate stall shower is to starboard. A thoughtful arrangement that maximizes space.
Stepping aft through a beautiful cherry door you enter the saloon. You feel the full 14' 5" beam here. There is a U-shaped settee to starboard with an island bench on center. To port are two barrel chairs. There are opening portlights along both sides of the saloon as well as generous hull windows port and starboard. There are four overhead opening hatches with integral sun shades.
Just aft of the barrel chairs to port is the nav station, including chart table, AC and DC electrical distribution. There is an ergonomically designed, minimalist fold-out stool at the nav station.
Next aft to port is the day head / guest head. There is a separate stall shower in this compartment.
To starboard of the companionway is the galley with centerline double stainless steel sinks, top and side loading refrigeration, three burner propane stove with oven, optional drawer-style drinks fridge, copious pantry storage, flatware storage, cutlery drawer.
Aft to starboard is a guest stateroom with a mighty queen berth, hanging locker, shelves and excellent lighting. There are opening ports and hatches for ventilation. There is engine access inboard.
Aft and to port of the guest head is the second guest stateroom with mirror image berth, hanging locker, shelves, etc. There is access to the engine as well as the generator.
Ã?Â
Rigging and SailsThe aluminum Selden rig is deck stepped and has two slightly swept spreaders. The rig is minimally fractional to create space for an A-sail above the headsail furler.
The standing rigging is wire.
The Selden headsail furler carries a self tacking jib, sheeted to a track in front of the mast. The ultimate in sail handling simplicity.
All running rigging runs from the mast back to the cockpit via covered troughs to keep the decks clear of lines. The troughs end in rope clutch banks at the secondary winches.
The Elvstrom main has full battens and lowers easily into a "stack pack" type mainsail cover. The main does not have a traveller, but rather a pair of blocks in front of the dodger.
The split backstay is adjustable.
The boat was delivered from the factory with the A-sail rigging package (lines, blocks and winches), but an A-sail was not purchased.
